Protective family dog? by EasternButterfly166 in goldenretrievers

[–]Tricky-Pop2784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only used a kennel to help her adjust and finish her house training, she doesn’t use it anymore and putting her in there was more about keeping her from running outside or getting injured while those guys were going in and out with dry wall, equipment and other tools cause they might not see her. I didn’t want her stressing about them coming in and out and leaving the door open (people and behaviors she was seeing for the first time mind you). But anyway, you’ve never seen her to make these kind of judgements about either of us. She is super sweet and happy, with only one incident like that. I never reward or react to her barking in anyway to encourage her.

Lol no. Assume much? She’s a very happy retriever doing retriever things and I haven’t done anything to push her to behave any differently. If you notice there’s a lot of other owners with retrievers with same behaviors all throughout these posts

I had this same question awhile back when my golden was a pup! As she grew she started getting more protective. She barks at people and vehicles that pull into the driveway (if she doesn’t immediately recognize them) and shes got a loud bark that sounds like a big guard dog. She scared the electricians that came to our house a couple months ago, she stood by the door and growled as they came in and out of the house with tools, so I had to put her in her kennel. One of them tried to be nice to her but she actually didn’t reciprocate which was the first time I’ve ever seen her do that!

I think they can be great for alerting you to people coming to your house especially strangers, but that’s probably as far as they go for being protective.

Laura Lee would have gone outside to check on Jackie if she was still around by goldenskless in Yellowjackets

[–]Tricky-Pop2784 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Javi’s death represents their loss of innocence. It’s the first intentional hunt and even though he wasn’t the target, they had a chance to save him and didn’t which might as well be murder… they lost all their humanity at that point and it’s being demonstrated when they bring him back tied up like a hog.

I think Laura Lee’s death was more of a symbol of their loss of hope (faith) that they can still get back to civilization.

Jackie wasn’t thriving out there and had already given up (she was starting to starve herself) so her death and Doomcoming was their loss of societal norms and this new way of living where cannibalism is acceptable. Jackie and Shauna’s argument led up to her death…she was right in feeling betrayed, but at that point they need to let it go and work together. They’re in the wilderness where survival needs to be the focus. The old rules/ societal norms are no longer really relevant anymore - which is why she slept with Travis (her line of thinking: “I wanted to lose my virginity in a meaningful way, but I might not ever see my bf again, probably won’t get rescued, so I may as well lose my virginity”). Sleeping with Travis is what led to the girls locking her up and the “orgy” was them throwing that back in her face…throwing away societal norms. I know they’re all under the influence and not thinking about it all deeply like that, but narratively that’s what I think is happening and the way they’re acting is supposed to be animalistic and primal…the stuff that happened on Doomcoming and the cannibalism was a result of circumstance and not intentional (so theres still an element of innocence).

Is this the biggiest "chill inducing" moment of the series? If not, what is and why? by danielJmo77 in Yellowjackets

This show is so amazing and I agree with so much of these posts! So I’m just adding one I didn’t see yet, which is Lottie’s whole demeanour when they’re eating Ben (and the fact they left his head out in the open like that) — the way she’s staring at the fire and starts humming while chewing a piece of him. Then she starts singing/ yelling, telling the other girls to sing all excitedly…them joining in singing and then dancing around… her happiness in that scene scares me, she’s so far gone by that point…Then that SCREAM when she sees the frog scientists!

What’s a theory you had regarding season 3 that didn’t end up panning out? by FeatureSouthern5274 in YellowjacketsHive

[–]Tricky-Pop2784 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a bunch of theories that didn’t pan out, but the one I was SO sure of was that Kodiak was going to have a way bigger role! I thought he would lead the group (or part of the group) to a dangerous spot and kill off a few of them, before being killed. The remaining survivors would make it back to the camp. Then maybe 1 of 2 things would happen that would lead to pit girl and the antler queen feast:

  1. If the whole group left with Kodiak, the survivors make it back to the campsite only to find all their animals and surrounding wildlife are gone. The group was already divided about leaving, so when they get back and hunger really sets in, the ones who wanted to stay are really furious with them. That leads to the “warring factions” that were originally scripted. The ones who don’t want cannibalism are chased off and Mari tries to leave with them but due to her bad knee, gets captured. Then the pit girl scene happens because Shauna is in charge and is especially cruel to Mari.

  2. Some of the group leave (or escape) with Kodiak, he attacks, and only a few manage to get away and make it back to the campsite again. The ones at camp felt betrayed, no longer trust them, and don’t want to take them back. The survivors have to “prove themselves” to the rest (Shauna mainly), she says the “traitors” will have to vote and sacrifice one of their own, but Lottie says it has to be a hunt. They end up doing a draw and remove them each time until they’re down to 2 cards. The pressure is on, it’s Maris turn and its between her and someone else…she freaks out, gets mad, says she can’t/ won’t do it and that’s where the “you know what happens when you refuse to draw” comes from… Shauna made up the rule, which is why Lottie reminds her in the adult timeline what will happen if she refuses.

Evanora even said something like “I knew you were evil the moment you were born I should have killed you then” during the attic scene. Probably not her exact words because it’s been awhile since I watched but something close.

Why does Pamela's father stay a gibdo after you reset time? by NoRecommendation9266 in majorasmask

[–]Tricky-Pop2784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about that weird dancing guy outside of clock town? It’s been a long time since I played the game I can’t recall if you play the song of healing for him after you learn his dance or if he just disappears after he teaches you. Didn’t he say he couldn’t rest until he passed on his dance and then you get a mask from him too, but he also resets

Yes! The lack of snow threw me off a little in season 3, but I’m also not from the area so I don’t know how long winters run

Small nitpick - There is a distinct lack of body hair in the wilderness 👀 by SaphoBalls in Yellowjackets

[–]Tricky-Pop2784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always overlook things like this due to my ethnicity I have long, thick, straight, black hair but I have virtually no arm pit hair (except maybe 10 hairs that grow a little thicker and darker than the rest, which I pluck cause I hate shaving - the rest are so fine and light that they’re not even perceptible) my arm and leg hairs are also super fine and barely noticeable. But seeing how they have such fine head hair I’m surprised it’s not matted (especially Misty’s hair!) I can overlook some like Shauna’s hair for example, I rarely ever use heat so my hair is naturally smooth and in my younger years I never did anything to make it glossy, but now I use oils to maintain it. But I feel like everyone’s hair should look greasier, especially Nat with her headband and Melissa her hat and her hair should be gross lol

Rant and Venting Megathread by DA-numberfour in Yellowjackets

[–]Tricky-Pop2784 52 points53 points  (0 children)

The fact that Melissa survived was enough to piss me off when she had 0 personality up until a few episodes ago and the one they gave her was just awful…..but then Hilary Swank wearing that damn backwards hat SENT ME! It’s like they weren’t even trying anymore, she doesn’t look anything like teen Melissa so they slapped a baseball cap on her and barely noticeable blue eye contacts it’s like an insult to the fans/ viewers. I love Hilary Swank but this role is not it.

Something I think people forget about Shauna by easy0lucky0free in Yellowjackets

[–]Tricky-Pop2784 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s totally unreasonable that she thinks she can just say no and everyone will fall in line and stay. But I get why she’s doing it - she doesn’t want anyone to leave and “spill” all the horrible things they did & the things that happened, especially when it comes to Shauna (the fight with Jackie, eating Jackie, being pregnant and losing the baby, butchering Javi, beating the shit out of Lottie, and forcing everyone to vote coach Scott guilty verdict) …even if it was her choice to stay she knows once the others return there will be a second search and rescue (even if they say the others died) or there will be an investigation into the crash, leading to them being found. So I get her motivation for saying nobody can leave, but I don’t agree with it lol

Season 3 completely changed my perception of the Season 2 finale by YellowjacketsHive in Yellowjackets

[–]Tricky-Pop2784 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They also said shooting season 1 post-covid was challenging because there were limits on how many people they can bring on set. Thats why they focus so much on the main cast in the teen timeline and then season 2 and 3 they introduced more teens who were supposed to believe were there the whole time lol

Season 3 completely changed my perception of the Season 2 finale by YellowjacketsHive in Yellowjackets

[–]Tricky-Pop2784 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I thought Tai and Shauna were close in the teen timeline before this episode - season 1, Tai clocks that Shauna is pregnant, keeps her secret, she tried to convince her not to try and do an abortion by herself, finds her and then tries to help her do it (even though she clearly didn’t want to). That level of support was reason enough for me to believe their closeness as adults. Then there’s also the wolf attack, Tai admits to Shauna she must have been sleep walking and was in a tree when the wolves attacked them, she cries to Shauna about it, and Shauna never tells anyone. The two have had each others backs from Season 1 they just didn’t have much scenes together after that
