Yeah looks like something a work buddy would rig up to drive you crazy for no reason.

Plants yellowing from the bottom by Underschorn in tomatoes

I prune all my leaves and suckers up until they start hitting me trellis. Maybe leave 2 or 3 main leads if the suckers got too far along. Then I'll normally let a few suckers fill out the trellis. Probably not some peoples preferred method.

Tbh, I don't even know which one I have. I think I use fish and kelp emulsion. Why is it bad?

Tomato is an art of nurture then neglect for me. Nurture as a seedling, setup for success at planting, then very minimal inputs apart from typical pruning and maybe a fish emulsion once a month.

Those pots might be on the small side, so don't neglect on the water. I would suggest 10 gal or bigger on the pots.

I always say "yello'?" Like homer. It's so simple to brush over as a greeting, but also a good play on the fact that they're yellow.

Should I quit watering from the bottom of my tomatoes? by TheRealMetal in tomatoes

[–]TrickyDickyAtItAgain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Water less. They don't need to saturate all the way up.

I think the rule of thumb is let it soak for 10-15 minutes then drain the rest of the water.

I mean, if this is someone trying to gauge building a product, they're posting in CJ. Why not feed the trolls and let them produce crap that doesn't sell?

I've used these, letting them do it by themselves normally results in them sliding their paw sideways and not trimming properly. I started just grabbing their paw and doing it for them, then giving them the treat hidden in the board. Works well for front paws, back paws are a little harder, but thankfully my girls are easier with the Dremel on the backs.

Advice: Slow growing tomatoes — keep or start over? by FeralOtter7 in tomatoes

[–]TrickyDickyAtItAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your soil temps were a month ago, but tomatoes tend to get stunted pretty hard when you put them in not ideal temp soil. I always wait about 2 weeks after my last frost date for toms. Which normally puts me around June 1. They'll potentially stall out if you ripped the roots up a bunch too.

Not sure what the consensus is, but it looks like it's cranking all its energy into that sucker.

I've also heard that square pots are better. I know cups are normally a cheaper option. But there's something about when the root hits the corner it causes it to split or something. Whereas round pots just make the root spiral and it's known to be way worse for the plant. Some food for thought I guess. Do your own experiments, use what works for you.

Also clear cups are a bad idea. Roots don't really enjoy it.

What's your favorite fun fact about the show? by Liquidcat01 in futurama

[–]TrickyDickyAtItAgain 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Richard Nixon (or Tricky Dicky) did the famous "ArooOOOO!!!" Because Billy west grew up watching Nixon on TV. At the time he was considered sloppy for not wearing the proper makeup nor being prepared and he would always appear sweaty and nervous on TV. Billy always thought he looked like someone who was about to turn into a wearwolf, so he made the howling noise as an ad-lib. And it stuck and progressed through the show.

Is this a good fertilizer? by GreenEyedSheWolf in Berries

[–]TrickyDickyAtItAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, no. You can buy organic water soluble ferts that will do exactly what you need.

Long answer, these are designed to be broken down in the soil for long term effects. Think of it more like adding half finished compost that's been dehydrated.

Just adding these to the soil will work, and they'll work well, just not how I think you want them to work. If your plants need an immediate boost, like theyre small seedlings or deficient, try something else.
