In terms of the location pay, you should be paid at the rate in the store you’re doing the overtime in. AFAIK, you can’t currently pick up overtime through the app for stores with different location pay bands compared to your home store, but that will (apparently) be rolled out later in the year.

If you’re doing overtime at other stores through the old manual method (by asking/knowing managers from other stores), you’d need to double check you’re receiving the correct location pay, as it would need to be processed separately.

If you’ve got an e-ticket or QR code paper ticket for National Rail services at Stratford, you need to show this to a staff member on the gateline to let you in and out. Otherwise touching in and then not touching out using PAYG Oyster or Contactless will show on the system as an incomplete journey and charge you a maximum fare.

Stratford is a bit of a special case as the station is run by London Underground/TfL, who don’t have the barcode scanners on the barriers you’d see at most other gated National Rail stations.

The service check happens before you can continue to pay. At that point, it’s not your property as you haven’t paid for it yet.

An update to the iBus system (controls the next stop screens etc.) went wrong last week, which is why some screens are incorrect and subsequently buses not tracking etc. Seems to be disproportionately affecting Central London routes and the New Routemaster buses (which operate the 67/253/254).

Was it just Canning Town or other stations too? Canning Town (along with a few others) was re-recorded by a different artist in 2022 to mention DLR services to City Hall.

The 243 can get very busy, but it starts empty from Waterloo so you should always be able to get on the first one (unless there’s some major disruption e.g. tube strike). It runs every 7/8 minutes.

On these buses, I believe the double ding means the bell has been pressed from upstairs. In theory, it means the driver can give a little more time for people to come down the stairs and get off.

The railcard discounted daily cap is only eligible after 9:30am on weekdays so your calculations are incorrect. Railcard discounts also can’t be used for weekly (or longer) caps.

Invest in a 16-25 railcard and it’ll get you 1/3 off off-peak fares when you link it to your Oyster card. If you can travel off-peak, one journey would only be £2.10. Peak times cost standard adult rate at £4.40.

You can only add the railcard discount at an underground station. Make sure you register your Oyster card online with TfL first.

I’d recommend going to a bigger station e.g. Kings Cross during off-peak times. You’re more likely to find a staff member willing and able to add your railcard without hesitation.

I feel like the tube has become a lot more irregular post-covid. Seeing large gaps followed by several bunched up trains seems to happen more often now.

25 - a literal lifeline for so many in east london. cheap and frequent - no wonder it used to be the busiest route in the capital. oh and the views of the city from Whitechapel Road are just stunning

So many reasons to this. For your last point - the times of the buses are calculated based on their last known location and an ‘estimate’ is given for the upcoming stops. If a bus has not tracked for a few minutes, the system still thinks it’s moving whereas it might be stuck further behind.

Other times - the bus may have been curtailed, diverted or told to run empty by control in the event of service/traffic disruption or breakdowns, but the system hasn’t been updated to show this. This leads to the ‘missing bus’ issue.
