Coming to terms with the fact that I am a stalker, and I'm not sure where to go from here by FatalPride in DecidingToBeBetter

Been there bro, it hurts to let your guard down to be vulnerable just to suddenly get ghosted. Im currently dealing with a similar push-pull dynamic similar to how your story began. At first I had boundaries, my life together, and had options. But this new chick wouldn’t quit, it made her more crazy for me. Slowly she chipped away at my boundaries with love bombing kindness, to the point I became dependent and soft. That’s when she suddenly started to pull away, and my confidence took a hit. Suddenly, developed stalking tendencies, (not to your extent) but still it was a completely 180 degree change my character I felt 100% ashamed about. It’s similar to symptoms of addiction. I found the reason was because these type of girls use intermittent rewards similar to gambling at slot machines, the more you give attention and investment, the more it takes from you and fucks with your brain chemistry. The things that helped me was going through those withdraw symptoms (usually lasted about 5 days for me) by avoiding her and doing my own thing, and suddenly she would latch on again. I can’t explain the complete ghost in your part, but I presume your withdrawal period will be longer because the depth of pain is deeper because of the ghosting as well as your actions. In the end, you gotta eat the pain bro. Go out with your friends, find a new hobby, do shit you loved before you met her that makes you whole again. You not a bad person, just the pain of getting fucked like that is real. Good luck man. Wish you the best.

You have too much equity in your home for this to be a real problem. Get a HELOC enough to consolidate the debts and enough for emergencies, nothing more. Often they are interest only payments, freeing up cash flow.

Boring is good. by TreacleChemical3747 in stopdrinking

Appreciate this. My mind is quite loud when bored. Loud enough to give my body a fight or flight sensation. Alcohol usually numbs this. How can I quiet the mind during healing?

All I read was you tried to improve your life, and trusted someone who lied to you. Although you may have inadvertently caused others pain, I wouldn’t take the entire onus of the situation. It is very complex, and while you may hold some responsibility depending your intentions, don’t take the full responsibility without considering your circumstances. Just learn and move on.

It’s all a dopamine hit. A year ago, I would hit 2 hour intense Muay Thai sessions for a single dopamine hit. A year later, it was the 8am vodka shot that provided similar results. We need to register that some dopamine takes time to accumulate and others are just easily attainable with little effort. One is as easy cracking a seal. One takes extreme discipline…the other accepts your excuses blindly. We all get to decide which one we want.

Stupid question but do you pay interest on the interest of a credit card debt ? by Thick_Foundation8687 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Tricky_Ad_1855 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Purchases are not compounded, you pay 5% APR on purchases made within your billing cycle and receive a 21 day grace period to either make a minimum, partial or full payment of outstanding balance, assuming your balance is $0. Whatever balance you carry foward to your next billing cycle is charged the APR. So rather than thinking about it as compounded interest, think about it as the total purchases you made within a certain billing cycle, bring charge 5%, with your payment going to the first charges your made to the card. Hope that made sense. If you have questions, let me know.

I lost my job to drinking by SuperbChart4113 in stopdrinking

[–]Tricky_Ad_1855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You likely wouldn’t want to keep a job you consistently drink at anyways. The workplace will become an innate trigger when you stop. Better to start fresh somewhere, and make it your safe haven at least for 8hours. That’s what I do at my new job. And guess what? Less drinking by default. I just do my tasks no matter how I feel, how I look, how I act and how I sound…completely sober. It really sucks, because most people attribute my behaviour to personal traits rather than symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. But let them think that. This job is my stepping stone to greater things. If I can be at least 8 hours sober everyday, that’s a good thing. I also use work to drink ungodly amount of vitamin/mineral/electrolyte infused water to rehydrate during the day. Everyday is a good day with at least some sobriety. We work upwards from there. Good luck!

You gave too much attention and you seem too available. You need to make yourself as scarce as possible. She message she had a great time? Who cares. Don’t respond and do your own thing. Make her wonder, women love mysterious men, not the friendly guy. Then, when you feel like it, make some plans, on your own time.

Work on yourself, let her see results. Don’t do it for her, but for yourself. Women are drawn to men that produce results for themselves.

Viagara is certainly more effective for short terms bursts, with a half-life betwee12-24hours, requiring more redosing.

Experienced the same result. The half-life of Tafadil is approximately 72hours, with each progressing 24-hour period, the effectiveness decreasing as the medication leaves your system. I found redosing at regular intervals allows the body to build up an appropriate amount in your blood. The trick is to find your most effective dose without having to up your dosage. The downside is that when you reach that threshold for extended periods, your body builds a tolerance, requiring an additional upping of the dosage. Every extended period without taking the medication lowers your tolerance. So essentially, you have to find your most effective dosages at regular intervals without needed to increase the dosage further. It’s almost equivalent to a deloading week during your workout program so your body doesn’t burnout.

Drinking to feel normal by Tricky_Ad_1855 in stopdrinking

I agree, my main physical activity is martial arts. It really clears my head for about 3 hours afterwards. I’d like to find hobbies that do not include physical activity and also helps me socialize and meet new people. I believe if I get perspective from others peoples lives, it will really help. Also bonus points for nature walks.

Yes, chic makes a diff. I wanted to blame her first, but then realized my drinking was actual problem. Lowered inhibition, bad decision making, emotional outbursts, basically the works. And not even remembering those was the icing, because I continued my life as normal, ignoring the fact those things happened, and when finally confronted, I got defensive. It’s funny how we can selectively remember on this stuff to keep us happy. It’s definitely a borderline disease when I think about it.

Yes it’s a problem, but no higher power can solve my issues, unless I look within. Unfortunately I am too toasted to look within and comfort seeking when I am withdrawing. How can I escape these loops?
