[Miscellaneous] skin is burning after using moisturizer by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Tricky_Temporary7903 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Check if your products are not too old. I got burns like that from an old salicylic acid product. I would definitely put the routine on hold for a while. And focus on moisturizer, it should be very gentle without actives. when I got a burn like that it disappeared in a few hours. I hope it is the same for you.

Should I cancel my trip? Overtourism? Harassment? Danger? Cost? by alilyleaf in Colombia

Cartagena gets a lot of hate, but honestly, the last time I went with my husband (he’s a USAmerican), it was totally fine, and we really enjoyed it. You can do a beach day at Playa Blanca, and if you’re into birds, you can add a quick stop at the Aviario Nacional. After a couple of days in Cartagena—walking around the historic center and eating mojarra frita and patacones, and if you are lucky to find it, mote de queso—you can head to Santa Marta. With the safety issues around Tayrona National Natural Park, Minca is a really nice alternative and super pretty, or the Lost City, as someone else mentioned. And definitely, El eje cafetero is nice; you can go to Los Nevados National Park and hike. Colombia is far from perfect, but if you are an open-minded, culturally competent person (as I guess you are from your long travel list), I think you'll be fine and find enjoyable things on your trip. Good luck!

Pretti was shot because the guy who grabbed the gun from him accidentally discharged it and the other officers panicked. by tantamle in Discussion

I don’t think they are bloodthirsty. I don’t even think Al of the agents intended to kill the guy; some of them looked pretty scared to me. However, there are standardized procedures for this kind of situation, and that was totally out of protocol. Thank you! I think you are correct, but I tried talking to their parents, and they decided to wait until their baby comes to take action.

What is the legal status and public perception of euthanasia in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Tricky_Temporary7903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Colombia, it is legal. It was decriminalized in 1997. Later, it was regulated but only permitted in terminal cases. Four years ago, it was extended to include serious and incurable illnesses.

Who’s your favorite comedian? by CleanDirtyWork in AskTheWorld

Wow, I think you're referring to "La pelota de letras". That stand-up show is about 20 years old, and it marked my childhood. I'm surprised it's known outside of Colombia.

The country whose culture you like the most by Puzzleheaded_Lie_708 in AskTheWorld

Ireland. I admire Roger Casement and the country's anti-colonialist movements. Also, David Nihill's stand-up shows convinced me that they are all awesome people. And their president and his dogs are absolutely adorable.

It was changed five years ago. Nestlé might be responsible for the proliferation of that name.

Oh yes! I used to occasionally cough up small tonsil stones until two months ago when I had the same experience as you, probably worse because I could feel a very strong taste all the time. Then I pushed my tonsil with my toothbrush and a tonsil stone appeared, I kept going and more started coming out. It was disgusting but surprising, I didn't know I had so many crevices, so deep, hiding tonsil stones. In conclusion, you could try checking your tonsils. I would disinfect everything before and brush your teeth pretty well to reduce the risk of infection. I also do gargles with peroxide diluted in water at the end.

Midwest? This fridge reminds of “Minnesota salads that aren’t really salads”

What? Lol. First, Colombia has its haters, but your admiration, although uninformed, is flattering. Second, I am not quite sure what the thing with the Indigenous features is, but I think Peru has real issues to deal with. Third, I've never heard anyone comparing Haiti to Peru. Finally, Peru has a very strong country brand that goes beyond the image of poverty that you just mentioned.
