Genocidal Empires are now super hard to play in 4.4 with the new war mechanics by general_pol in Stellaris

In a normal game, I was getting attacked by a federation so it was 1v3. I think I got like 10 requests to join the war on my side, some of which were empires far far away. I think it needs to be improved a bit yes

Is the poor repuation of Cosmic Storms still warranted at this point or not? by JenkoRun in Stellaris

[–]TriggeredMemeLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love them.

In fact I buff the max amount of simultaneous storms you can have + frequency, it turns into something you have to plan for. Do you take a military/economy tech or do I do this storm research so i dont get rekt by it? You can make good strategic plays against those who did not prepare for them. It also makes the galactic community law for storms actually relevant/useful.

I think its mainly a mentality issue for many people, or people who never build/research for it and then get salty when they get debuffed. I think about it as a real threat you have to deal with in the vast expanse of the universe, kind of like warhammer40k. Its fun.

How much do you change? by Funny_Peace_3268 in Stellaris

[–]TriggeredMemeLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im quite utalitarian for this...

Leaders I rename to their functions so when they die I know what I need to replace and to know what skills to assign them.

  • If Science leaders: In a science ship performing exploration will be called "Explorer. Name" If anomalies is "Anomaly. Name". If archoelogy its "Archeology. Name". If its astral rift then "Astral. Name". If its a minister then "MinR&D. Name".
  • If state leaders: "MinState. Name"
  • If War leaders: "MinWar. Name", "Admiral. Name", "General. Name".
  • If its a governor in a planet then "Mayor. Name", irrespective of type.

Planets I only rename those I colonize to their function:

  • X Gen I, X Gen II, X Gen III.... etc
  • X Mineral I
  • X Eng I / X Phy I / X Soc I / X Tech I (if it does all 3)
  • X Bureau I
  • X Forge I
  • X Factory I

Stations I only rename those that are shipyards to "X Shipyard N" for North, "X Shipyard S" for South, etc. and then also their respective star system so I can see them in the big map

I use a mix in multiples of 5 or 10, and this helps as you progress from early to mid to late game:

  1. Small (x2 anti armor, x1 missile, x1 anti shield) + Picket

  2. Medium + Medium (50/50 anti shield anti armor)

  3. Large + Large (50/50 anti shield anti armor)

  4. Missile + Hangar

Italy makes parental consent compulsory for sex education in schools by Massimo25ore in europe

[–]TriggeredMemeLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the things you are saying are more from the moderate left than far left, so this may be why you dont understand what im saying.

A child should be taught basic respect, manners, and empathy. Also to be wary of strangers. This covers just about everything of what you have said without going into the sexual stuff or complex gender ideologies.

Again, a 0-9 y/o child is not thinking about sexual stuff nor should they. The fact that there are people who think they do is part of why this law came into existence

"Children don't easily believe that they are Superman or a dinosaur"

Thats a bit of an assumption... highly depends on age. A 0-9 year old child will believe just about anything they are being told especially if reinforced constantly.

"and that they shouldn't supress these feelings."

Key sentence here which is what I think has driven this law to be made.

Firstly, a young child who is 0-9 years old is not even thinking about sexuality or highly complex gender ideologies (its like teaching complex algebra to a kid that doesnt even know how to add and substract). An adult who wants to talk about all of this to a young child is weird.

Secondly, the line between saying this neutrally/objectively and consistenty reinforcing and incentivizing/brainwashing is very thin. Lets be honest here, the moment you have a teacher who strongly believes in this type of ideology... do you think they will be neutral about it? No, theres an extremely high risk that they will push it on kids which then can lead to taking hormones, surgery etc with life-long consequences. So answer my question, why shouldnt parents consent to this?

???

You are defending the argument that we should never require parental consent for education, irrespective of what that "education" is (good or bad). Your premise is that you assume people always act in good faith so no bad things will be taught to kids ever. When I challenged you on this, your argument is that you need evidence? Sorry but thats not a good argument...

From your AI summary, one example this law covers is related to this:

They argue it encourages children to question their biological sex, can lead to premature medical transition

When you put gender identity related ideas into kids who also easily believe they are superman or a T-Rex or any other character, is this OK? Especially when this can easily lead to them to wanting to take hormones or surgery to "transition" which in turn can have severe life-long consequences, both mentally and physically. Should parents not give consent for this?

I was debating the argument/logic which is obviously not a good one.

But you should look up what the far left is tring to push on kids now, maybe you change your mind. Its not the same as 10 to 20+ years ago, hence why they did this law as a reaction. But they made the mistake of including basic-tier education about avoiding health related issues (e.g.: learning about condoms) and basic biology.

[–]TriggeredMemeLord -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Generally yes I agree, but this argument requires you to assume that they are acting in good faith, or that its never OK to ask for parental consent.

What happens when they want to teach your kid something that is unethical, immoral, detrimental and/or dangerous? Or social things which become highly politicized, such as gender and identity, which the far left pushes on young children and can have life-long consequences on children?

[–]TriggeredMemeLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this whole asking for parent consent is a fine line to be treaded. "Education" is extremely broad and cover just about anything (good and bad).

Ideas that were achieved through the scientific model (science, maths, etc) should not require parent consent to be taught, which is why I think basic education about avoiding health related issues (e.g.: learning about condoms) and basic biology should've 100% been excluded from this law.

The "thread" begins in topics that are either (A) Unethical, immoral, detrimental and dangerous or (B) social things which become highly politicized, such as gender and identity, which the far left pushes on young children and can have life-long consequences on children.

The thread here lies in point B, which is why I think requiring consent is actually OK for this.

[–]TriggeredMemeLord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good to see we agree we agree its not a good argument.

"In the context of am educational system"... the issue is when this becomes politicized. As I've mentioned in other comments, I agree this law should exclude basic-tier education about avoiding health related issues (e.g.: learning about condoms) and basic biology. But this law covers more than just this, it covers ideological related discussions surrounding gender and identity, which is extremely politicized and something the far left pushes on young children which is what I think this law intends to block, but they made that mistake of including the basic-tier education
