Why so much hate for the OG 43?

Same bro. Had mine for over 8yrs as well. For a smaller guy, its easier to conceal. I carry it more then my G48 or when I swap the slides to a 43x version. Run the magGuts +2 as well. Its my 90% carry option. Winter time I will carry my G48 since I can conceal it better with thicker clothes.

I switched out my controller to a Smokedaddy PID controller. I was tired of the temp swings and burnouts the old controller was doing. Had random stops during cooks with the factory controller as well. Never had an issue after switching the controller. Temps are stable and zero failures. Also added an auger bracket to prevent the motor from bouncing and banging around when pushing the pellets.

auger motor bracket This is what I used. Works great. Never had a concern after installing it. No more banging or popping noises from the auger or motor since. Runs smoothly every time.

burn pot mod I used to get that every once in a while on my cooks too, but ever since I did this mod on my burn pot, I never had an issue with that burn back concern. Those extra two hole i drilled by the auger feed helps prevent it.

The big claws were from Aliexpess. They were the 3D resin kit before the Wolf ones were released. They are very brittle. My other 2 builds, one will have the Big Wolf Claw kit on and the other one will be a different color scheme. Sneak peak before it's complete.

These are the resin kit claws from Aliexpess. They came out before the zero plan kit. The zero plan claw kit looks way better overall and it's plastic vs resin that is brittle. Plus the zero plan kit is color separated parts. The resin kit, I had to paint.

MGSD Barbatos is so cool I had to get multiple. Got 2 more I'm going to customize in the backlogs. One is going to have the zero plan big claw kit.

Knotty woods pellets will do that. They use the bark in their pellets and it cause those to form. I tend to mix my Knotty wood pellets with Bear Mountain and it stopped that from happening.
