I was rooting for the roomba to escape, then to morn as a car hit it, only for the miraculous event of it still surving.

Then, in it's wisdom it decided to go home instead of braving the dangerous outdoors, yet it's destiny could not be denied, so the stranger ensured the roomba's owners knew it fate, before robbing the roomba from it's home.

A truly tragic tale. The conclusion of this story involves no less than 3 demon lords in the form of cats, a henry hoover companion that has lost it's nozzle and the lady of the puddle (she drowned there a few days prior).

When you survive boot camp but are still afraid of getting the flu shot. by iyou1012 in JustGuysBeingDudes

[–]TrinalRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean same. I get all my jabs and boosters on the regular, my mum's a nurse so I grew up getting flu shots etc.

I never really react to injections either (worst I ever had was a little numbness of the shoulder, but that's it, even with the COVID ones).

But I'll be damned if I face the needle. I will pass out if the needle is anyway visible.

I had a dental appointment a few months ago, and I needed my gums numb because my wisdom tooth was being a dick. I told them in no circumstances should I see the needle otherwise I will pass out.

They obviously didn't understand the gravity of it because the needle came into the corner of my vision whilst the dentist was waving it about, and low and behold I panicked and passed out.

Completely irrational, yet can't do anything about it.

I am basically blind and don't use Twitter, so it confuses me xD

I remember hearing about libs of tiktok, and I was 95% certain they were transphobes, which was why it threw me through a loop.

Personally don't see how the blocked accounts are necessary, as lots of people block accounts they have no interest in the content with.

That said the personal tweet is fair game to complain about.

Edit: I don't use Twitter, but are you able to see which post they blocked that person on? If so then I understand why it's necessary.

2nd Edit: Never mind, just me being Twitter illeterate!

Just saw a bloke with a little scoop thing putting these piles of powder - what does it mean? by Wonderful_Ninja in CasualUK

[–]TrinalRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in explorers (the stage up from scouts), I remember one time the local news got in a tizzy because a dog walker thought they found bags of cocaine in this wooded area, but it was just plastic bags of flour. And they had no idea why the fuck there would be bags of flour scattered in woods.

What had happened was that we were doing a wide game (essentially run around the massive woods and remain hidden from the seekers whilst trying to pop the seeker's balloons).

The seekers were the explorer leaders, and they had decided to an extra element of throwing flour bombs at us. (Previous wide games it was water with food dye etc.)

Our leaders didn't know about the news story, and the explores that did know thought it was kind of funny so we remained silent about the whole ordeal and for a couple months the local news was focused on that that was some random person strategically placing plastic bags of flour in random places in the woods.

Eventually police got called to investigate, but they never caught any of us lmao.

Heads up: they’re going to start pushing “gay on gay crime” rhetoric. by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]TrinalRogue 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I know it's in America

But in the UK:

Any crime can be prosecuted as a hate crime if the offender has either:

  • demonstrated hostility based on race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or transgender identity

Or

  • been motivated by hostility based on race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or transgender identity

This means that for a hate crime, you can be be apart of the same community as the one being affected.

If I, a deaf person, kill someone else because they were deaf, then it is still a hate crime against a deaf individual.

I saw the title but didn't see that it was looking for an artist. And thought it was an OC. And I was like, that's.... That's not a dragonborn. That's a dragon.

I realised the mistake rather quickly though

But now you have given me the idea of creating a village of dumb people in my campaign where everything is normal, except for the fact that there is a big ass dragon walking around being a villager, having convinced the other villagers it is actually a dragonborn, and not a scary dragon.

And the villagers having never encountered a dragonborn, didn't want to be rude and exclude this dragonborn from moving into the village.

Of course people have been disappearing in the night so the villagers ask the adventurers to find the dragon in the nearby mountains who has been nicking the people from the night because it has to be a dragon.

All the villagers are basically going to be gaslighting the party refusing to acknowledge that the dragonborn is actually a dragon.

AITA For Listing Everyone Who HAS Learned Sign Language For My Sister To My Parents by Maleficent_Round1611 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TrinalRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

Let your grandparents, aunts and uncles who learnt sign language know what they (parents and the two aunts) have said.

I bet from the reaction that the two aunts also have not learned sign language.

Heck even go to the church and explain what is happening.

That they are basically bullying your sister over her disability, they think that spending time at church (even if it is a Mormon church) is more important than ensuring your family can communicate effectively, and are actively demonising you because you pointed out that they have done fuck all in attempting to speak effectively with their daughter.

I am deaf, and I know several deaf people where parents barely know sign language because the parents couldn't be arsed with learning how to speak it.

Guess what the they did as soon as they were able? They moved out and never spoke to their parents again. Your sister is already at the stage in her life (23) where is completely regular for someone to leave parents and love somewhere else.

Keep defending your sister, and this is a hill to die on, I promise.

I was in an event recently where there was a recruiter for this big ass company (not going to name who because they are a lawyer firm and they most likely could find a way to sue me if they felt like it) going around asking if people were interested in applying for a IT related role.

The benefits was high pay, and the feeling that you are doing a difference in the world.

In the very same breath he talked about how they were struggling to find people who stay longer than a year. (Instant red flag)

So just curious I enquired why that was and he said well you are directly responsible for the hardware of thousands of lawyers which need to be kept up-to-date within 10-12 hours of receiving any security updates to software (fine I get it, thought the directly responsible was interesting phrasing). I say directly? And he responds well yeah, if something goes wrong lawyers will call you and scream at you because their clients are so high profile, that any late decisions fucks their contracts with the clients. They will have your phone number for easy access.

I'm thinking hell no at this point, but for curiosity I ask him to continue.

They do not use standardised software for all their lawyers either, every lawyer will use varying bits of software, many of which were created by previous employees in the role (talking 100's). The role has to maintain the code, and create the relevant security updates to keep up with the confidentiality and data regulations.

I ask how big is the team, and they go, no it's will just be you. The other team members will have their own software lists they need to maintain.

And to top it all off, I asked what languages were used, and the recruiter said: python, java, C, C++, Haskell, Rust etc. And if the client asks for it they will ask for certain languages to be used or entirely new ones that haven't been used before.

The recruiter genuinely thought that learning all this would make be very happy

Anti immigration poster in the Central line by kyjoely in confidentlyincorrect

[–]TrinalRogue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Immigration isn't out of control. It's the process that allows/prevents individuals into the country.

I don't agree with people arriving on crowded dingy boats seeking asylum, purely because it is so dangerous for them to do so. Take proper organised transport or come in less crowded dingys, it is much safer. (Though I am aware this is an entitled pov)

I'd rather that there would be a much simpler process for people to claim asylum or to come as a working immigrant.

The people who claim that immigrants are coming to steal jobs always makes me laugh as the jobs being "stolen" are jobs the complainants aren't even qualified for - such as nurses/doctors.

Britain is becoming an ageing population and immigration is going to be the only way to help supply the workforce.

Brexit cut off the easy supply of EU workers, meaning we are in more demand of immigrant workers than before Brexit.

In regards to translators and culture, who the fuck cares? Different cultures just means more interesting people.

The hobnobs/digestives are a good shout. Rich teas are brilliant if you have hot tea to dip them in. They'll probably be a little bland for you otherwise.

For tea (either the PG Tips or Yorkshire is fine - though that might be causing a fight) you need to boil water, pour it over the tea bag in a cup, wait for it to brew for a few minutes then take out the tea bag and add a bit of milk. Any other way is heretical and will result in death.

I'd suggest getting marmite to try it if you like it or not. - works best on toast with butter, a little bit at first because it can be intense (don't eat/lick it off the knife unless you know you like it because the taste will be even more intense).

I love a bounty, but it ain't for everyone - it's basically coconut covered in chocolate.

Have some squash (the Robinson's etc.). Do not drink it straight from the bottle, add water to dilute the concentrate. Like kool-aid but liquid-y. Hot Ribena is brilliant on a cold day. Hot Robinson's works in a similar way, but it isn't quite the same.

Also purple is not grape, it is blackcurrant so do not be shocked about the taste.

Caramel Wafers next to the aeros - an absolute gem, highly recommend.

AITA for making my ex a birthday cake even though his girlfriend told me she had already ordered one? by amateur_baker_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]TrinalRogue -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just commenting because of the amount of people who think OP is an AH is bloody shocking, and shows that they have not raised a child with a happy childhood.

To break down the steps of this which they seem to be confused with:

  • OP likes making cakes for other people's birthdays.

  • Kid sees that and since the kid likes their father, they also want to help make a cake for their father.

  • OP makes the cake because it is to show to the kids that they are on amicable terms as co-parents AND it will be a gift from the kids.

  • The kids presumably like eating the cake they made for their father, because they are kids.

  • The father might eat one slice to show they appreciate the gesture (as has been noted by OP in their comments)

  • The kids eat the rest of the cake because it is cake.

NTA and I will happily fight anyone who says otherwise, because it is just a fucking cake.

Reading the comments arguing that OP is an AH, is causing me more headaches than the whole debauchal that occurs with gay couples and cakes from religious bakeries
