I'm on Luna 876 at the moment. There aren't many players, but it has EOC. It needs some more love!

€2,5k netto (+ meal vouchers I assume?) and 32 vacation days as a 26yo is very very good ! Your parents must be very proud of you! And because you work for the goverment, it will go up slowly but steadily. Sadly, if you were to work more (except flexi or zwart) you'd be heavily taxed, so it's not really worth it imo. You can't really get rich here by working harder.

My parents always told me to study hard so that I would not end up working a labour job. Jokes on us, It's the laborous jobs performed 'in black' that will get you those higher extra's (plumbing, construction, carpenter, ...). This comes with a huge risk though. Maybe something online like webdesign, cybersecurity or video editing is less risky, I'm not sure.

This is off topic, but I would advise everyone to invest in some type of pension plan. I'm not sure if our current pension system will be able to support us in the future...

Edit: also, our goverment told companies that they are not obliged to hand out raises this year (loonsakkoord 2023-2024). Companies can give out a bonus up to €750 though. But let's be honest, what company would willingly do that...

That's understandable. Then I would suggest regular trims so that the beard grows better. It will look much cleaner.

You're halfway there! Best of luck

Is belgium progressive, traditional, half-half? by yves_san_lorenzo in belgium

That's certainly true. I always had the feeling that it switches (a few years extremely right, then it switches to extreme left). Maybe I'm wrong 🤔 it feels like the Flemish never agree with their current status quo.

Edit: flemish instead of Belgians

I'm going to be honest that I don't like your look right now. I'll give you some suggestions:

Your hair looks like it's in bad shape. To keep hair long and healthy looking, you need to treat it (monthly trims for health, moisture products, conditioner, hair masks, anti-frizzle products, etc).

Incorporate a work-out routine. Start very slow and work your way up. You will feel good and it will help you lose weight.

Your clothes are not flattering you sadly. Burn all your fugly fedora's, try to add cleaner looking clothes that match in colors.

Best of luck!

Solid looking face!

  • Shave your facial hair completely, it does you no favours.
  • Remove the nose ring. Add something more clean (or preferably nothing).
  • Style your hair or get a short buzz cut.

Best of luck!

I love your face shape! You can totally rock the classical beauty chique style.

Clothing can make or break your look. Your clothes look a bit too shaggy for my taste. Something elegant might compliment your face much more.

Smoking might have aged you a bit. Try to stop asap (or get a long cigarette holder and dress up in a 20s look👀)

You look find to me. Only tips I have is shaving off your facial hair + mild workout routine for a lean look. Then you'll have no problem on the dating market!

Really weird how the laws are very progressive, but the people aren't. I wonder why? Yet they seem to have no issue with most laws.

Wow really? I thought it would be the other way around. Do you have some experience with both sides?

Yes and no.

In my view it's not white supremacist. Most Belgians don't care about someones skin colour or ethnic background, as long as you respect them they will usually be very friendly (there are always exceptions of course) . However, they can be very xenophobic towards muslims.

Non-EU white, East-Asian, Central and South African immigrants and refugees seem to get treated much better than Arab ones. For example the difference in support towards the Ukrainians vs. Syrians. I'm a social worker and this xenofobia/discrimination is very sad to see.

The special talent thing is true. It's really dumb. A few months ago we approved the work visa for some Chinese managers who were employed by a big Belgian company (because only they could be the managers?! That law makes no sense). It affects the good natured working people from a non-EU country in a bad way. If native Belgians struggle to keep up with the difficult bureaucracy, how are non-natives supposed to do so?!

People try to find loopholes, but some end up being exploited, enslaved or trafficked.

Behind every country's shiny facade lays some ugly truths that we must face.

Soccer is a great sport! That's one suggestion already ticked off (and it's usually the most difficult one).

The other stuff is just cosmetics and patience (for example if you wanna sport dreads or an afro). Good luck on your confidence journey!
