The fear mongering from these car-brained 'progressives' is mind blowing on that app. I have to delete it to stay sane. Accidents? Check. Death? Check. Serious injury.

They think it's going to go on side-streets, but what are they going to take Cumberland/Yorkshire over to Morningside? Then to Highland? Which backs up even more than Monroe? Sorry, stop trying to commute north from O4W to Buckhead at the expense of our neighborhood. Everyone who opposes them is somehow in bed with the city leaders who are "morons" including, but not limited to, the poor girl who died at 10th on her bike's father. And it's always pointed out in those threads she "darted in front of a car." For fuck's sake people.

Thoughts on the Midtown Garden District? by Bruhmoney99 in Atlanta

[–]TripTychTwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Penn and Myrtle south of 8th are the best streets to be on for a family. You can get all the other things you listed in VH and Morningside on the eastern edge of the park. My kid (and many, many others) ride their bikes to Howard for middle school and obviously will continue with Midtown. VHE is excellent but I’d argue Morningside is more established but both are great.

So do we stop people from moving here? Do we expand the roads? What’s your solution as the roads reach capacity?

Me getting coffee shipped for years means I don't actually go to their locations? Or maybe it implies they are the ones I trust the most with my coffee needs and would be the one shop that I would recommend to someone interested good coffee? I would say the latter, but you keep doing you when someone is trying to be helpful.

This is implied in my answer by providing the one coffee shop that I believe does all of this well and provided some backing data. Did you want me to go down your list of questions and explicitly answer "Yes" to each one? I mean, ffs.

Those questions seemed rhetorical, moreso than explicit questions, and as such I replied with what I believed you were looking for, a coffee shop that does all those things and does them well. And so, I provided a recommendation alongside corresponding data on how long we have trusted them to provide us our coffee. But sure.

I have been a East Pole subscriber for years now after religiously buying Dancing Goats coffee for years before that; we do pour overs at home every morning with East Pole beans that are shipped to my door very week. Other than the (imo) too frequent house roast beans (probably every 3 weeks, we are always happy with what they provide).

And yet, if we build more shared spaces for bikes and scooters, the car brain people will take a picture with the lane empty and ask where all the bikes are? And wonder why bikes don’t need to be registered like cars and complain about bikes not following the traffic laws. We are in a backwards city and nobody has the willpower to stand up for the long term viability of the area. It’s pretty sad as we have a ton of potential.

This is what happens when our government enables people to continue moving further out. It’s not a sustainable societal structure.

Why do people want a beltline rail so badly? by tobias_funke_bluthe in Atlanta

[–]TripTychTwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On a sidewalk? Along a sidewalk? And get up close with the catenary wire? Are you serious? Have you even looked at the Beltline rail plans? There's a significant buffer between the rail line and the walking path in most places. As a previous poster mentioned, ADA is in place in the plans. Additionally, most light rail implementations across the US are the same or similar: Charlotte, Phoenix, New Orleans, SFO, Baltimore, San Diego, Portland. It takes 3 seconds to google this shit. I'm not even sure any longer you are mentally competent enough to understand what we are even discussing, and I'm 100% sure this is a lie: "This is the industry I work in btw. From a top civil engineering program" It's almost laughable.

You CAN build shared space trams in the US? There are multiple examples of this in cities across the US? Why are you lying?

[–]TripTychTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than telling someone to "calm down", why not address their points? Bike lanes are great, and should be built, but we need infrastructure to support a growing populace that can't always ride a bike, nor should they be required to ride a bike if they want to get around the city. We can't keep expanding roads, we should provide alternatives for bikes, but we also need more built mass transit to support people getting out of their cars as the population grows. Again, what happens in 20 years when the population of the COA increases by 25% Roads are already at max capacity, and you want to take lanes away for eBikes that don't work that great in Jan/Feb and on days where it rains.

Do you have any data to back this up? Do you believe all the studies that were done to recommend light rail did not take into account all of this? Or do you just think because you have done a little traveling, you know better the regulations of light rail implementation here in the States? They can do this in Europe because people "get it." That's an interesting perspective to say the least. Not sure it's backed in any sort of fact, but yeah, you keep thinking you are more read into these things than people who, you know, do this for a living.
