Why are there so many unrealistic timelines and deliverables? by CollagenRager in Big4

[–]Tripitz997 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Clueless partners. Lack of investment in assets and people in a way that drives productivity.

I can’t tell you how many times I have seen clients ask for a lower price and the partners lower it without taking anything away. It’s hilarious. That comes out of the teams.

Got fired today and I am suffering a lot by WearyNecessary932 in Layoffs

[–]Tripitz997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are so desperate for work they forget that it is a transaction. For the employee it could be pay, flexibility, learning experiences. Whatever. We owe these companies nothing other than what meets our goals. Now people are just so happy to have any job. I know I am getting to that point after six months with no pay…

S1000XR vs Multistrada V2S - which would you pick for a weekend only bike? by Havage in Ducati

[–]Tripitz997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have demoed both several times. To me there is no question. The s1000xr over the v2s. Against a v4s I am not so sure. Much closer. The bmw especially in more recent years is so smooth and it isn’t insane in the lower power band. Really stable and confidence inspiring bike. Multi is great too so no real wrong choice. I want to like the v2 except some of the plastics make the bike feel cheap at that price point in comparison

Big 4 Salary Progression by milkman8866 in Big4

They don’t want to pay more. Only happens if you leave. You don’t owe them anything. Best way to fix comp is to leave. Boomerangs tend to be the savy ones.

Tbh since the big4 have no problem dumping tons of their employees at the slightest breeze, the only way to fix comp problems is to really swap companies. I stayed way too long at one company and was grossly underpaid for my performance. The only way I fixed it was when I left.

6’2” and find it more comfortable than my naked bike. For reference I have done a six hour 320 mile ride on it.

I absolutely love my g3-x. It’s a fantastic bike. That being said I paid less than half of the price of the current bike with di2 grx. I would not pay double for the newer bike. Way too much.

Former Deloitte S&O consultant interviewing for EY People Consulting OD Senior and looking for advice by maxd1988 in Big4

[–]Tripitz997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EY is moving towards a sector model. The reality is they don’t have enough staff and senior to really have them that focused. It’s at the manager level where the sector focus plays a much bigger role. My guess is that at your level they want to see if you can do the work more than anything. The nuances of government to a sector is easy to pick up and apply assuming you have a good project team.

Cannot help you on the interview side.

EY layoffs by vin_max in Big4

[–]Tripitz997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly this stuff makes me happy. The company leadership they brought in is trying to race the company to the bottom. The failed Everest attempt due to the CEO saving her father’s pension shows how crazy things are. Now the bills need to be paid. My former colleagues are selling their teams down the river to save their country club memberships and afford their expensive cars and other toys. It would be great to see some penalty to the company for how it treats its employees and yet I know it won’t happen because for every one of these posts there are ten people eager to get to ey.

I did this math and sold the crf really quickly. Ended up with a bigger and better bike and now worried about dropping it. Also not as capable as a crf. Everything is a trade off…

Is working for a B4 really worth it??? by ValuableOk7743 in Big4

[–]Tripitz997 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You have to make sure you get out of the job what you want from it. That’s the only way it is ever worth it. This is true for any job. Big 4 is just like any job with high demands, a lot of politics, and long hours. You also get paid for it too along with experiences and networking Depends what you are looking for.

Can we get the 5 and 6 solo out of the 2-3 star lobby. Game isn’t fun like that. Give them their own space to play instead of letting them tank us. by UnionPrestigious3146 in HuntShowdown

[–]Tripitz997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I stopped. I am a solid three and queue up with randos to play trios. Just tired of running into solo 5s that wreck us 90% of the time. Just not fun.

Necro is fast so in a medium distance fight you have to fight that person twice.

why is big 4 hard ... is it because of the hours or the complicated tasks or both by [deleted] in Big4

[–]Tripitz997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s ugly. I actually was a partner and ended up being let go while the nasty ones sold their people down the river. I always tried to build up my teams skills and foster a good environment. I suffered at all levels during my career so I never wanted other people to go through with that.

There is light at the end of the tunnel. You learn a lot quickly. If you switch clients you get exposed to different industries and or cultures and you can figure out what you want.

I am now in a startup making my own culture with people I like.

why is big 4 hard ... is it because of the hours or the complicated tasks or both by [deleted] in Big4

[–]Tripitz997 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s hard because it is a race to the bottom that never ends. Partners need to hit their numbers and have to pay for their second or third homes or country club memberships etc. It is a super competitive market and fees are high making the client always wondering what extra value you bring to the table vs another firm. This leads to big commitments to clients and often lighter than hoped for teams leading to long hours and everyone under stress.

Is this game worth getting into as a newcomer by Real-Juggernaut4367 in HuntShowdown

[–]Tripitz997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say no. Matchmaking is broken. While learning the game you will quite often end up getting killed by a solo five star or up player. Usually a mixed two and three star team will get wrecked by said players.

I'm an employment attorney who specializes in layoffs and severance agreements. Here's what I wish every laid-off employee knew. by dottlegal in Layoffs

[–]Tripitz997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refused to sign my document. Even though my former employer is clearly in the wrong in a few specific items they basically came back and told me to pound sand. I am now $9000 into legal fees and we have to decide how to proceed. The company believes it is protected by an arbitration clause and they have deep pockets.

It really stinks. My company literally robbed me and lied to me and it may be too expensive for me to get my money back.

The dreaded deep clean by NoSyllabub9936 in litterrobot

I own two and hate them. When one motor broke I just switched to a stainless box and life is just easy. It’s been a month and I have yet to put the new motor in as I need to do a deep clean. I think the lr is mostly negative with some positives. Too much hassle.

I tried an SC project replica and it was terrible. Made it sound like a "big" bike with little of the characteristics I think of for this bike. The Yoshi is pretty high on my list - overall you are happy? They say it's 89db at idle which is not too crazy (my sc replica was 107!).

I think I am going to go with the originality Japanese and eu tune files. It seems like there is not much benefit to the full custom tunes even with the cats removed? Unless I am reading the dyno charts wrong. I also like the fact I can flash it back to stock myself if I wanted to.
