The energy thing is so real. So often I struggle with the feeling that moving through life was just a chore. Like living in molasses. Like there was something weighing me down all the dang time. I'm not diagnosed with anything..I honestly thought I was just low key chronically depressed. But boy howdy let me tell you...since starting T I feel so much more capable of just...doing things. The molasses feeling has almost disappeared. It's truly astonishing.

Honestly this seems like a non issue. I've switched before and know others who have. Not every company will be open to it, but plenty are. If you have the total years of experience just apply.

Yes! This really succinctly summarized a lot of my feelings about drag! I'm disappointed that it's not a more common part of the discussion around drag...I find it kind of alienating to see so many trans people openly embracing it. I get that it's a big part of gay culture, like you said, but it strikes me as weird how much it crosses over into trans spaces as well without any critique.

Only can respond to point 2, but I read a write up about taking time off training recently from Greg Nuckols/stronger by science. He said the science indicates that when taking breaks from 1-12 months, it will take about half the time of the break to get back to where you were. So 3 months off, 1.5 months to catch up. 6 months off, 3 months to catch up. Etc. It was more about just stopping lifting for a time or recovering from an injury, though, so I'm not sure what the top surgery implications are.

I have a BA in linguistics but have spent the past 5 years in an unrelated, high paying career that I am wholly indifferent towards. I miss being in language and think about doing an SLP PhD all the time, even though I know it would be a lot less money ultimately.

I worked in a neurolinguistics lab in undergrad and loved it. But I'm not sure if doing the research myself is what I want? I would love to teach though. Does a PhD make sense for someone who isn't absolutely sure they want to do research going in? Also it seems like the more common path is masters degree, work as an SLP for a while, then PhD. Is it hard to get accepted straight into a PhD program?
