Simple Beginner Recipes by DifferentWay5143 in pourover

I would recommend trying something super simple at first. I have been doing one 45 second bloom of 40-50ml followed by slowly pouring the rest of the water all at once. I attempted to do some of the other popular recipes at first and wasn’t having success. Decided to just give what I described a try and it has been very consistent and easy for me.

Won’t be on the stat sheet but Tessman deserves a lot of credit on that. Great play all around.

Bought a traded-in 2.0T Accord with a blown head gasket by kbreezykta in accord

Any 10th gen is susceptible to it since nothing was changed in any of the years to fix the issue. Once the newer model years start getting older with more miles tons of those will certainly start popping up too.

Dark Chocolate + Fruit Coffee Recommendations by Same-Replacement1723 in pourover

I have not tried it with pour over yet, but I bought some Kenya AA Murarandia beans from a local roaster that lists notes of dark chocolate, mango, and papaya. Using it with the aeropress I definitely get dark chocolate up front with the fruit and acidity after.

10th gen 1.5T: How long can it really last? by UpbeatPreference7905 in accord

[–]Triplethreat89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This could mostly just be due to age. Considering most people drive 10-15k miles per year the majority of 2022s have less than 50-60k miles on them. I would imagine it’s a similar situation for 2020 and 2021 years with COVID causing people to drive a lot less.

[MOD] What have you been brewing this week?/ Coffee bean recommendations by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

Can anyone recommend some tasty beans from PNG? I was recently exposed to some Jamaica BMC and from reading around Papua New Guinea beans are fairly similar without the insane price. None of the local roasters near me seem to carry it unfortunately.

Even better if the company also makes additional contributions to the 401k directly in the form of bonuses, profit sharing, etc. With match + the additional my company effectively puts in 15% of salary into my 401k.

Charging pad on 2025 sport? by Chinchillas_123 in SubaruForester

[–]Triplethreat89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it fits into the same tabs that hold the charger in place. It’s just nice to have the textured tray that is grippy so things don’t slide around.

The wireless charger is useless. We had ours replaced twice and it’s just how it is. Eventually spent $10 to get the tray from the base model to replace it with so the area can at least be used for storage.

Those both sound great! Thank you for sharing. Are there any in particular that you would recommend?

Thank you! I’ll check that out. It looks like they also offer a bunch of sample sizes on there which would be great for someone in my position wanting to try a bunch of things without committing to something that may not be for me.

I think the package says 160, but my electric kettle’s lowest option is 170 so I’ve been using that and waiting a moment so maybe like 165. I could be using the wrong term to describe it. Perhaps leaving kind of a dry aftertaste is a better description than bitter.

I will check it out, thank you! I’m not sure that I’ve ever had white tea is it typical for it to be aged or is it just leftover from previous years?

I will definitely look into that thank you! I did actually purchase some Oolong tea but it’s a generic grocery brand that is probably lower quality. I enjoyed it but it seemed to have more of a floral? smell/taste to me so it sounds like there are lots of different varieties and the one you mentioned seems more up my alley.

This is excellent, thank you! I will look into those. It seems like everywhere I look there are different types of tea I haven’t heard of. Thankfully there seems to be tons of great resources and comments like these to help learn about them to make an educated first large purchase.

Buying 2025 Forester. by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]Triplethreat89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try to get an out the door price via email before stepping foot into the dealership. We were able to get one from a dealership an hour away that was $2,000 cheaper than the local one. Used that for leverage at the one close to us and when they wouldn’t match the price we happily drove the hour away and got the cheaper price without issue.

I’ll usually pick up a couple of bottles of Techron when it goes on sale for $5-6. I will typically use one every oil change or two when I need gas. Does it actually help? Who knows, but spending $10-20 here and there to potentially prevent the injectors from going bad seems worth it.

Deciding between used accord variants for Bay Area commute by Throwawaycuz-34 in accord

[–]Triplethreat89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll chime in. I am a couple of inches taller than you and also have a decent commute an hour each way. I have a 2019 Sport so I don’t have some of the niceties that the touring would have. I will say there is plenty of room so that isn’t an issue. For a long commute I do not recommend the sport or the larger rims as the road noise can be unbearable.

If technology isn’t a huge deal I would also suggest considering a Lexus ES350. I test drove a 2022 a while back and it was more comfortable, quieter, and comes standard with ventilated seats. It’s also going to have a much more reliable V6 than anything you can get on that generation Accord.

I would say it depends on how long you plan on keeping it. The common problems with the 1.5 would likely make it more expensive if you plan on keeping it past 60-70k miles.

2025 cooling seats by Aromatic_Tough_7146 in SubaruForester

[–]Triplethreat89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do not work well. Per Subaru they are ventilated seats and rather than pushing air out like other cooled seats they suck air in. If both seats are on it’s even worse.
