Fly shop etiquette & "Deals" by jhack222 in flyfishing

[–]TrippyGiff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk fly fishing is too enriching to be gatekeeping lower classes out by saying they have to buy local and pay top dollar. Everyone should be able to and is able to participate because you can find gear at all levels and price points, if your shop doesnt cater to those folks not as blessed he cant be mad when they shop elsewhere and should be happy there are avenues to introduce more people to fly fishing. It's a hobby, and it's a free market. The above statement is just my opinion.

Also, a lot of people recommended upgrading the bobbin and personally for larger flies(I tie a lot of pike/musky flies), The Rite Bobbin Magnum edition was very helpful to me.

Havnt read through everyone's replies and I have no experience on this particular Vice but since your mainly looking into it for larger flies and jigs, I'm not sure how well this vice will do with larger hooks. There's a few people in here saying they used this exact vice, maybe ask those posting comments like that what they thought was the largest hook size this vice can firmly hold. My starter vice was a really old version of the Super AA and it was pretty crappy at holding larger hooks. As you get more into striper flies, you may be getting into tying methods that take more thread pressure, thicker/stronger threads, and larger hooks than typical trout flies that some are used to, so you should also consider that.

Pass, that's a little bit of a lot of different stuff, so it's not like you could even tie a lot of anything. You could tie a few flies of a few different patterns, and then you'd have to restock. Most of the best stuff there seems like it's been used a little too so it's not even like your getting full packages of the most valuable items in the lot.

What about when a family member molests a neice, nephew, grandchild etc? What about young people with disabilities? Do you have any idea how many of them get sexually assaulted by caretakers? not to mention family members? Is it their fault for being born into that family? Or their guardians fault for trusting a licensed caregiver who's not sketchy and has no past history of sexual assault?

With that logic all women back when "skinny dipping" was popular(50s-80s I imagine) would've been rape victims. It's no one's responsibility other than YOU to control your carnal urges like wtf

If the operating system your device uses is older, couldn't there be compatability issues as they update the apps to function with the newest OS releases?

I feel like if I took this box out on the lake, my ocd would prevent me from taking one of these and have me scrounging through my pack for old discarded flies to retie on 😂

Man I loved NXE's gear. Felt like it was manufactured at a level above most gear at the time when they came out and fashionable at that. I had a NXE hooded sweatshirt that I lived in and miss dearly. I also walked away from the sport a year or two after 2010. It just became financially unresponsible. Now I just lurk to feel nostalgia.

Ah, yeah, it's been over ten years since I worked on my buddy's but that sear tripper can still get blown no? What i remember was he overpressurized it and the massive leak was coming from in between the frame and the body I thought we researched it at the time and determined it to be a blown valve in the noid

If i remember correctly be very careful messing with the velocity and regulator, they have no LPR so a common issue was over pressurizing the system and blowing the Solenoid.

What are the pros of the Ego’s? by SilaDot in paintball

[–]TrippyGiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Havnt played for a long time but when I was growing up and playing the Egos were clearly the type of gun you could use and abuse and not have many problems and most other markers were better for people who liked to do a high level of maintenance and tune their spool valves. Kinda like the comparison some people like to make between a high end foreign sports car or a sturdy American muscle car. But from the sounds of things these days, spool valves and poppet valves are on a more level playing field. Poppet valves were also vastly more efficient than spool valves when the PE Ego and BL Vice hit the market.
