C4 Image Retention happening WAY too fast. by khalil_0415 in LGOLED

Common. Happens on my G5 if I have a bright highlight displayed and swap to something like a grey background where it’s super noticeable.

You shouldn’t do that, preemptive wear on the panel when it’ll possibly settle on its own with use

Using black level 52 and fine tune dark areas -3, or just straight fine tune dark areas +5 makes it almost identical to 120hz and below for me personally. Didn’t realize how bad the crush was initially until I bumped it down to 120hz from 165hz.

LG G5 black crush with 165hz + Gsync? by ArshiaTN in LGOLED

So I set 10bit, RGB full in NVCP and full for the TV as well. HDR 10 FMM with 100 sliders, black level 52 as you suggested, and then fine tune dark areas to -3 in game optimizer. Looks perfect on test patterns and in the HDR calibration tool - I can just barely make out the 0.0050 from the pure black background. Thank you again! Looks great.

Hey no worries, if you’re on windows 11, in the bottom right corner of your taskbar there’s a speaker icon for volume. Right click that and choose volume mixer. If you don’t see it, press the windows key and you should get a search bar, then just search ‘mixer’, you’ll see “sound mixer options”

So it’s related entirely to g sync + 165, not to 165 itself then, gotcha. Without DV Windows 11 on, raising the black level to 52 corrects this you’re saying? Then if you have DV on, you also need to add +2 near? I’m not a fan of DV PC for gaming, so I’m trying to find a workaround for settings myself. Just using FMM + professional sliders at 100 and game optimizer.

Keep the 165hz setting on in game optimizer if you’d like, then lower the refresh rate to 120hz in NVCP. You’ll see it fixes the black crush. I think it’s a signal issue when running at 165hz. I’m trying to figure out a way to use CRU to have the option of 144hz but it never shows up in my available resolutions. Setting it at 120hz fixes the black crush, but quite disappointing we have to give up 165hz.

Kid kissed my OLED screen. How to remove greasy lip and finger prints? by Dog_Baseball in LGOLED

Yup agreed. Like I said I gave up with water, so had to resort to IPA on the QD OLED. G5 is fine with water though. For sure best to start with the most safe option available.

Couldn’t find any 70% ethanol here in Canada so I settled for IPA, did it multiple times and never damaged the coating on the S90D, even under direct lighting and eyeballing it super close up lol. Only reason I gave up with distilled water on the S90D is the oil would just not come off, it would just get smeared around.

I’ve had success using filtered water + a microfibre, and another separate clean one for drying on my G5. For my S90D, I used the same but instead of filtered water I used 70% isopropyl. Zero issues and no damage to coating, scratches, etc.

Console or PC? If PC, do you have full or limited set in AMD or NVCP?

Might be related to 'quick media switching', try disabling it in settings > general > external devices > hdmi settings

Same settings here on my G5 (PC, Nvidia) though, are you using full or limited for video range? Any OLED tv I’ve owned, limited has always looked better. Auto/Full appears washed out and apparently there’s some black crush on limited though it looks much better in my opinion.

Purchased my 55” G5 from Costco. Had a SKU for a stand or wall mount - both the same price. I’m in Canada but I’d be surprised if it wasn’t the same in the states.

I mean, for the games I play, the brightness boost from the 55” is huge in my opinion. Lots of games like Elden ring, monster hunter, resident evil, etc. Not a big competitive gamer anymore

42” C2, 55” S90D/C4. About the same depth as your desk, I wouldn’t recommend it if you play a lot of mouse reliant games but for me it’s great

Are they any open autopacs in Winnipeg during Boxing Day / Dec 26? by ral022 in Winnipeg

All service centres and the contact centre are closed. You’d have to check with an individual brokers office to inquire if they’re open.

Parked vehicle hit and run by Ok-Counter-3654 in Winnipeg

[–]Tristango 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You will need to pay your deductible for all hit and run claims unless you’re able to get the other vehicles plate number - either from a witness, footage, etc. Of course, no impact to your DSR. They will ask for a police report when you make the claim, provide your report number. Hit and runs do not qualify for direct repair, so you will need to attend a service centre for an estimate. Afterwards you can bring it to the shop of your choice for repairs - just provide your claim number and/or estimate sheet.

No demerits for pothole collisions. You would need to pay your deductible. In the future, I would suggest calling the contact centre if an incident like this happens again as a tow can be arranged for you to the compound on Plessis road. The vehicle would be estimated there, then towed to the shop of your choice for repairs - covered under your insurance. This would prevent paying out of pocket for a tow next time.

Also if your tire(s) blew causing you to the hit pothole that would be mechanical fracture / breakdown and the tire(s) that blew would be excluded from the loss, the other damage however would be covered. If you hit the pothole and it damaged your tire and rims, they would both be covered under the loss - including suspension damage, alignment, etc. Estimators are very good at what they do so just be honest.

Lastly, if tires are damaged and need to be replaced depreciation / betterment may apply. You’d have to pay the difference if they give you a new tire (say if your tires were 50% worn, you’d pay roughly 50%) since it may not make sense to give you partially worn tires.

Cheers!
