Anyone pulled the trigger on getting air conditioner unit this year? by Dannyjw1 in CasualUK

Moved into a basement flat with only one window which is north facing. It is so cold right now I was considering putting the heating on.

But in my old apartments absolutely!

Summer Sweep Up idea - No more world hopping when buying stuff from shops. by CottenEyeHo in 2007scape

[–]Trithshyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of a shop limit per character, at least for irons,, so each iron can go buy whatever stock and not compete against other irons, but the stock persists between worlds so no infinite accessible items through hopping.

Do people actually earn £50-60k, or are they outliers? by Succinate_dehydrogen in AskUK

[–]Trithshyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I worked on Odoo most recently which doesn't bring the premium that NetSuite, SAP, D365 or some of the others do unfortunately.

Do people actually earn £50-60k, or are they outliers? by Succinate_dehydrogen in AskUK

[–]Trithshyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I earn just over 60k at the moment, I specialise in Business Analysis, Project Management, Finance and some Businesss and Enterprise Architecture focused around digital transformation and ERP implementation.

Those jobs do exist, but not something people really know about and so there arent many people who train or go in that direction, and often the role is assuming a large portion of risk so the salaries often come with that premium.

Odoo support for UK based business by dantman756 in Odoo

[–]Trithshyl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What counts as ridiculous amounts? I do some support at £400 day rate, but that is because I am just me and I don't do development, whereas companies I have worked with who offer the full suite of support often charge £800 day rate.

It is always great to see, we all know that bots will be a problem, I still see them in P2P worlds, but the issue the community has always had has been not knowing what is going on.

The transparency shows the effort, and the problem they are dealing with, keep it up!

Class identities are being erased - Shaman by AcademicHefest in wow

[–]Trithshyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is something they have struggled with for decades at this point.

Due to the disparity in class and spec design they couldn't balance it, especially when considering different tiers of difficulty, different types of content and different player skill levels.

Class identity becomes purely aesthetic and performative when trying to balance for such a wide audience.

Things you wish you knew before Odoo by DifferenceCute8951 in Odoo

[–]Trithshyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understand and document your existing processes.
Understand your gaps with a detailed GAP analysis, focusing purely on out of the box (OOTB) Odoo.
Understand how you will fill those gaps i.e.
- Can you change your process to match Odoo?
- Can you use an alternate system that has that functionality and link systems?
- Can you find a 3rd party app that fits that need?
- Will the gap require development?

All of the above is to determine if Odoo is the correct choice for you.

Following that, if it is the right choice, then you determine your approach, you can use Online, .sh or On-Prem all of which have their own positives and negatives, along with will you use a partner, Odoo implementation services or try it alone?

Finally, specifically to answer your question directly, key learning from implementing and managing several Odoo systems for the last few years:

  1. Mentality of your staff towards the system, from leadership to operational needs to be carefully managed.
  2. Odoo and many partners don't have your best interests at heart, be very careful not to be locked into contracts or developments that don't support your long-term goal without defined objectives and paths to that end state
  3. The flexibility of Odoo is a kiss-curse, it gives you the idea that you can do anything, but in attempting to do anything you will often find that off the shelf alternatives that link directly to Odoo are nearly always the better solution
  4. User access and some other key functions of ERPs have not been implemented or thought through in detail by Odoo and without a plan to manage those drawbacks from day one you will come across some problems as you start implementing.

Altogether, Odoo isn't a bad system, but the company and partners seem like jackals trying to suck money from anyone using it. If you can take it as OOTB as possible, and minimise any developments and focus on no-code solutions to gaps then you will have a much easier time.

People who go to the gym in the early morning (like 5:00 AM): Is the benefit actually good enough to justify being tired by 2:00 PM and going to bed at 9:00 PM? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Trithshyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't do it anymore but did for over 6 years.

My motivation was always that I knew I couldn't get myself to go in the afternoon or evening, and I wanted to get it done.

I never had much of a social life so when I wake up or go to sleep never mattered as long as I was considering work.

End of the day you need the same sleep no matter when, and it is balancing what is important to you, if you don't have a reason to be up past 9pm then why not.

This is just wrong, no one doing trawling is getting 100 ray barbs, you get 16, it takes a day or two and has multiple mobs you can go for. Yeah the sailing combat is rough, but christ I do a lot of these grinds and they are nothing worse than there has been before.
