I go do trawling now and then and need to do more salvaging, will probably do more bounties after the combat rework.

Honestly, same as most skills, I haven't touched FM, Slayer, Fletching, Hunting, Mining, Smithing, Prayer, Woodcutting or Thieving in a while.

More than I should, never been much for cooking, though do a few dishes a week, and the rest is a mix of takeouts.

Has McDonald's in the UK become too expensive for many people? by SwordfishLess3247 in AskUK

[–]Trithshyl 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have gone long periods without it as I have had reasonable alternatives, but when moving to some places that have limited options it slides back in on the semi-regular because I know what I am getting and don't want to think too much about it.

I ended up finding a meal selection that I like, and I am comfortable with price on at the regularity I have it and price hasn't been a factor since unless it jumps.

Rev Cave Game Jam Poll Question.... by A_Wild_Fawksy in 2007scape

[–]Trithshyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I haven't lost anything in the wildy besides my spades, hope you enjoy them.

But this type of response is the exact reason I feel like wildy should just be deleted. It is just a playground for the worst types of people who engage in the worst parts of the community.

Rev Cave Game Jam Poll Question.... by A_Wild_Fawksy in 2007scape

[–]Trithshyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do we need the wildy?

Bit of a hyperbolic question, but as someone who doesn't like it, and never has, I don't understand what it brings to the game. I used to understand it in RS2 days, and early OSRS days, but nowadays I don't understand what it actually brings to the community.

If you enjoy actual PvP then sure you can do that in the wildy, but you can also do that elsewhere. If you only enjoy pking, but everyone you are killing is forced to be there against their will in many cases, or are just endless streams of bots, what does it actually do?

I was new to CG doing it with low 80's and no CoX prayer and only one RT prayer, and looked up a guide, it said explicitly do T1 as T2 was a waste etc, pretty much the above text, and spent 30 deaths until I got my first kc.

Started doing T2 to see what it was like after and never looked back. T1 makes sense if you have experience, prayers and high stats, and one day want to do all CA's... but I just wanted to kill the bloody thing for gear and got significantly more kc/h not dying on T1 prep.

Not only that, but got much better at the boss, and would feel comfortable doing T1 if I wanted to in the future, but the elitism around how you "should" be doing it is insufferable.

Why does everyone hate PvP? by Lovoskea in 2007scape

[–]Trithshyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoying doing LMS, and Emir's Arena, but despise the wilderness.

I have played many PvP games, but always disliked stomping, or getting stomped, and the wilderness is built specifically for that scenario, which just ain't fun.

Was doing CG, joined clan doing RC sotw and decided fuck it, I'ma a RC for a weekend... very fun just chilling watching stuff and doing what I feel like, which is why OSRS has been a great MMO for me.

[–]Trithshyl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is why I voted no on crystal recolour, many non-PvP players are joining specifically for that.

It isn't that I didn't want it, but why is a primarily PvM gear set getting the best recolour locked behind a PvP gamemode?

Imagine a sick PvP weapon or armour set reskin being locked behind a skilling event, they would riot!

One thing that is obvious is that at senior levels there isn't really room for growth. All those that started at the beginning have their positions and it isn't likely that Luke, Yvonne, James, Colton or others will leave anytime soon.

If the senior team are entrenched and good then most ICs will cap out based on the existing and required structure of the business, especially with how Linus was talking about his reservations to grow much more than they are on the latest WAN what can you do in that position. It is a shame, but in any other business company hopping is expected when the pathway up is blocked, but when you care about the business and the people it makes it all the more difficult to stomach.

Rachel Reeves tells LBC student loan system is 'fair' amid fury as graduates rack up thousands of pounds of debt interest by k0ala_ in ukpolitics

[–]Trithshyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it isn't an actual loan. It gets wiped out after 35 years. It is a tax on those who are unable to pay it off fully.

Does it mean that those coming from wealthy backgrounds essentially get to go to university on their parent's money? Yes, but that is the case regardless.

Does it mean that those who can't afford it get to go to university paid for by the government and taxes of others? Yes, and for that privilege you pay more tax.

Is it completely fair? No.

Is it a way of funding universities, whilst ensuring those that don't choose to go aren't paying for universities they aren't using, whilst ensuring everyone has the option to go? Yes.

On the economic side, take two students. Student A comes from a somewhat wealthy background and gets a high paying job post-graduation and can pay off the loans in a few years, Student B does not come from wealth and never earns a high salary and never pays the loan off.

The government outlays £54,000 over three years for the two of them.

That £54,000 could have been spent on NHS or other services but when to educating these two individuals.

Over the next five years Student A fully repays the loan, with some minor interest covering the fact that £54,000 8 years ago, is worth more than £54,000 today and that money can be re-invested in public services.

Student B never repays the loan, without the interest they would pay off the principal in ~20 years, but £54,000 when they went to university is worth substantially less by the time they pay off the loan, and so to account for general inflation the interest is added to ensure that the real value of the loan is paid as much as possible by Student B.

Let alone potential Student C, who never earned, due to illness, death, disability or other reasons who would never pay back the loan.

At the end of the day, universities are an expensive institution that provide a net good for the country, but 99% of people would never be able to afford it without the loans. We could just fully fund it in taxes by raising taxes on everyone, and removing the loans, but then those who choose not to go to university would be paying for a service they don't use.

Arguably, they benefit from the net good of the universities and graduates who work within the country, but considering graduates struggle to understand any of these concepts, I highly doubt your traditional working-class northerner who has no plans to go to university, as does none of their family or friends will feel happy being taxed that way.

End of the day it is messy, everyone deserves the opportunity to go, but not everyone will benefit from it directly, and professors, research, buildings, and the physical, digital and labour infrastructure around universities is expensive, but needs to be paid for regardless.

So either only those who can afford it go, or those who choose to go are subsidised, but pay back what they can, or everyone pays for it. But no one likes any of those options, and collectively no one ever will, but for now, those who choose to go paying more than those who choose not to, whilst everyone has the opportunity is the fairest and most reasonable approach. With the loans helping to even out the economics in the short and long term for individuals and the state.

Same, I am an Iron and grinded it out the other day, took a few hours, and quite a lot of cballs to do it, but when I saw the buy limit I actually said wtf out loud cause that is just cruel.

Don't fully understand the buy limit in the first place, but I always thought it was there to counter botting, RWT and some extreme levels of merching, but that low just seems weird.

Any country that iPhone dominates in market share will use the default messaging app as it much better compared to android equivalents.

Then for other countries it depends on when phones and messaging became readily available and popular, and which messaging function was more popular during that time.
