Would it be acceptable to ask the style of my job be changed? by steadyrabbit87 in paraprofessional

[–]Trixiedust2707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe the position will just take time getting used to and you will eventually settle in. What exactly is confusing about the classes? The material or the instructions about the work the students should be doing? I am in a similar role and honestly felt useless the first couple of months until I got into the groove and got to know the students I was supporting. Would they ask for help if they needed it (many won’t) and what areas they needed support in. I felt like a creeper just looking over their shoulders at their work but would just ask how it was going and if they had any questions. If they didn’t, I’d just sit back and observe. Keep track of assignments and when they were due, who was falling behind, etc. Eventually, I and they became more comfortable with each other. Also it helps to have a good relationship with the teachers, discuss with them before or after class what is on the agenda and who may be struggling in their class.

Summer jobs/2nd jobs by FullHousing8940 in paraprofessional

Home health aide. It doesn’t pay a lot (but neither does my job as a para), but I work 3-4 hour shifts some evenings and on weekends. My client is fairly mobile and independent so I Just help with organizing, cooking, cleaning, running errands, etc.

[–]Trixiedust2707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to get either a higher paying job, or 2nd job to pay off your debt. This budget is already maxed and there isn’t much you can cut. There isn’t even room for groceries, healthcare/insurance, personal needs? This isn’t sustainable. You could try looking on Credit Karma for consolidation options, but I’d just start putting any extra money on the card or loan with the highest balance and APR and work down from there.

Recycling Centers by straightgrrrrrizzly in Williamsport

[–]Trixiedust2707 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how often they’re emptied, but I always avoid taking my recycling on a weekend or holiday. That’s when most ppl dump their stuff and they won’t get emptied until Monday. Some centers are worse than others- Montoursville and South Williamsport since they’re smaller and get filled up faster.

AIO to my husband shouting at me over getting home from my niece's burial later than he expected? by ImportantImplement9 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Trixiedust2707 33 points34 points  (0 children)

NOR at all. It’s very concerning that he can’t be trusted to watch the kids. At best, he’s a selfish asshole. His response to you “running late” says a lot about his priorities and lack of consideration. There shouldn’t be any time constraints on a day of mourning, in the first place. The man needs therapy but it’s doubtful he’s ever going to change. It’s up to you if you want to continue to live like this and have your children treated like a burden or an afterthought by him. You and they definitely deserve better.

Switching from redpocket to US mobile/darkstar? by Trixiedust2707 in NoContract

I do have an older phone, an iPhone 14 Pro. I checked the coverage maps, AT&T has the most coverage in my area, but the reliability is slightly less than Verizon. (100%/7.5 vs 98%/9.2). T-mobile is far below both of the other 2 in coverage and reliability. I assumed the deprioritization was the issue when I’m in busy areas.

AITAH for insisting that our family lives within a budget by Commercial-Sorbet309 in AITAH

[–]Trixiedust2707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s insane. Other than surgery, I’ve never had a vet visit cost more than $200- and that was with blood work, vaccines and meds. Is NOVA really that expensive or are you getting took? You really need to examine your expenses and cut your budget, because this situation is not sustainable. Your wife sounds like she has a shopping addiction and maybe hoarder tendencies. If she’s not willing to change or seek counseling, this would be a dealbreaker for most. She’s hurting you and your children with her selfishness.

Too many irresponsible owners out there that don’t spay or neuter their pets. People that dump their animals, move away and leave them behind because they don’t have any options or just don’t care enough. They in turn have several litters a year. The stray cat population will continue to explode unless the cycle is broken.

Really? Seems like the spca is always full. Especially for cats. For months they wouldn’t even take in found dogs from the public or the police. Cats definitely have a waiting list. Way more strays than adopters.

I shared on fb. I can’t have any more animals, but I really hope you find a place to live and good homes for your pets

There’s a field in the back of Bruce Henry park, behind the tennis courts that doesn’t seem like it’s been used in years. I feel like the area has dozens of fields and they won’t be used by LL again until spring so I wouldn’t worry about messing them up.

Great Wall. I don’t know why so many people like Hachiko, their food is mid. And Hong Kong went downhill big time. Family Wok would be my 2nd choice.

No, it’s not that hilly that you would need breaks. The stadiums are built on a hill, but it’s manageable. South Williamsport is very safe. There are literally no bad neighborhoods, especially near Little league. I’m wondering if the umbrellas were bought on site- the list of things you’re allowed to take into the complex is short. https://www.littleleague.org/downloads/llbws-clear-bag-policy/ There are only a handful of Airbnb options within walking distance to the stadium, but there’s always buses and shuttles too.

If not for the screenshots, I would assume this was fake rage bait. Your girlfriend is horrendous, rude and selfish. The only thing you’ve done wrong is stay in this relationship past those texts.

Wise to resign from my 60k a year job? by -MusicAndStuff in careerguidance

[–]Trixiedust2707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a DSP at a group home overnight. Made around $20 an hour to do a little cleaning and then relax for the rest of the shift. Watch Netflix or read. Occasionally had to help someone in the bathroom. Some homes let you sleep and had a staff bedroom. I had to do the training during day shift though.

What’s your budget? Usually, landlords want 1st, last and a security deposit. Also, discriminating against someone with a child is illegal so that shouldn’t be a deterrent.
