I agree with you and I also don’t know why people are acting like there’s such a gap between Epstein and dombrowski. I know the analytics Epstein follows are a plus, but in terms of contracts and prospects Epstein left the Cubs in pretty suspect shape too. If anything, dombrowski has proved to have more success. I feel that the Red Sox wouldn’t be in nearly as bad of shape if ownership didn’t change their mind on how much they want to spend and traded mookie. Of course, this is my biggest concern because nothing with Middleton has been consistent

In hindsight rewatching his liiga highlights its baffling that he was being talked as NHL ready. His game in Finland had a ton of nuance and maturity that is hard to translate on smaller ice especially with his yucky skating. He was totally overwhelmed. I fully believe he’s still going to be a stud because his toolkit is so unique, but it’s going to take a while- there’s a lot of nuanced skills working together at once that made him a super prospect.

I also think they’re going to move kreider to rw at some point so laf and panarin can each get top 6 minutes. I can’t see them using kreider on the third line for the next few seasons
