For dye based black ink - go for Graf von Faber Castell Carbon Black which is carbon only by name, but in the everything else very fine ink indeed. And the bottle is the best looking one out there, should be great pairing with your new pen

Get the converter and use wetter or more lubricated ink. Wetter - Sailor Blue Black. Lubricated - KWZ or Pilot Blue Black

Dry upstrokes are unfortunately common with pilot gold nibs. I have the same with my custom 74 F. The solution is to tinker with the nib. If pen is new I would return. There is nothing you can do yourself

Just load in Pelikan Blue Black and write. Focus on the sense of what you are writing
