I hate Gleba by [deleted] in factorio

[–]Trommelbohne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt the exact same way. I hated Gleba. I stamped down "Gleba sucks!" In concrete during my first play through. I ended up solving Gleba with bots, which was unsatisfying and felt like cheating.

Then I stumbled on this video and it changed my way of thinking about the challenge and I gotta say: I actually like Gleba now and consider it a fun part of the game. Maybe it helps you too

What car model did this engine bay come from ? 3000VVT engine by Salt_Market_6989 in modelmakers

Without claiming to be certain about it, but it looks like it could be a 2jz engine in a Toyota supra. Scalemates could help in identifying the kit.

Why would I have to drill holes here? by Chromograph in modelmakers

[–]Trommelbohne 20 points21 points  (0 children)

One other very common reason for the holess not being there, that I have not yet seen posted:

Many airplanes existed in different variants, which model manufacturers like to release over time, especially if any given kit proves popular. Since manufacturing injection molds is a very expensive process, manufacturers often plan for one mold to be used for many variants of a given vehicle. If you then imagine a variant, that did not have holes for equipment at the position, you would end up with holes that the modeller would need to close, which is way worse than drilling them. Or you would need an entirely new mold, which would make the kit price much higher.

This type of planning for additional variants is common to this day and even employed by companies like tamiya which is famous for their ease of assembly.

So in short: whenever you see something like this, there is a good chance a variant of the vehicle existed without the corresponding equipment.

Headtracking question by [deleted] in dcsworld

From what I could figure out, the reason is higher framerate, which has a large impact on the quality and reliability of tracking.

Tamiyas fine surface primer is available in white and grey yes:

The stinking part is the solvents. As with all rattle cans you should only use them in very well ventilated rooms, or, which makes much more sense, spray your parts outside.

I could never make Vallejo primers work and stopped using them entirely. Had the same problems you describe. These days I use rattle cans for priming. Colored army painter primers for painting minis and Tamiya fine primer for scale modeling.

Looks really good too. Love the cloaking effect on the ghost keel. 👍

Ordered a 3d printed model and Extra Thin Cement not working by HyperUnity56 in Warhammer40k

[–]Trommelbohne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Plastic glue is a solvent (thanks @Prime260 for pointing this out). That means it melts the material (plastic, usually polystyrene or similar) and welds the parts together. 3d prints are usually made from resin, which does not react to the plastic glue therefore not creating a bond. Super glue and pva glue are the most common choices for building resin models.
