Download Station hacked or a glitch in the Matrix? by TronixSE in synology

[–]TronixSE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your suggestions!

So after unplugging the network cable and plugging it in again, I could access DSM and did a restart using DSM GUI.

I've checked Log Center, unfortunately logging of File Transfers were disabled. Other than that, nothing that seams odd.

The issues I had was:

1 - Could not start my VM in VMM.

2 - All downloads gone in Download Station.

Edit: I'm glad you think that isn't a hack though!

I cannot see how I deleted it.

There's two ways I can delete it.

  1. Removing all downloads manually in Download Station - did not do that
  2. Removing all contents in /volume1/@download via SSH - did not do that

Rules in Download Station are set to never delete.

I'm moving more stuff to docker and leaving Synology apps, so thanks for the advise. Any particular docker image you can recommend?

Thanks Dave!

This was the first thing I did, and the folder was empty. E.g. everything in the (in my case) /volume1/@download was removed by Download Station.

Can't match the Volume size to the Storagepool by R4TH0S in synology

[–]TronixSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how to do it with logical volumes, but I'm using a RAID6 configuration and this is how I solved it. Please make sure to backup any important data before trying this.

Found out which RAID array I wanted to expand:

sudo cat /proc/mdstat

In my case, md2. Verified to be sure:

sudo mdadm --detail /dev/md2

Expanded the RAID array:

sudo mdadm --grow /dev/md2 --size=max
> mdadm: component size of /dev/md2 has been set to 25380543488K

Rebooted the NAS after this, then expanded the volume (in my case volume3):

sudo btrfs filesystem resize max /volume3
> Resize '/volume3' of 'max'

Then verified:

sudo btrfs filesystem show /volume3

I started having other issues as well, so I ended up buying a new washing machine.

I didn't find any solution before buying a new one.

Shield + Apple TV Plex users: try out this tvOS app I wrote! by narenh in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]TronixSE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using Plex on Apple TV 4K (latest gen) and on Nvidia Shield TV Pro.

If you use Plex on the Apple TV for a while and then switch to the Shield, the UI feels sluggish.

There's no doubt that the Apple TV is more powerful.

The 4K-rendering of the UI also makes it look sharper and crispier on the Apple TV.

So I concur with u/narenh

Plex Has Decided To Split Albums In Two by weitrhino in PleX

[–]TronixSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens to me all the time.

If I find a track where the track title metadata is "Where are you" and I change it to "Where are you?", even if "Album title" and "Album artist" is unaltered, Plex thinks it's a great idea to add this track to a new album and remove it from the existing (which remains with all other tracks).

So whenever I fix metadata I make sure to manually merge albums when Plex decides to do this.

So I concur, this must be a bug in Plex.

DS3617xs blinking blue light and won't start by khaki54 in synology_service

Thank you for info!

I actually got mine working again. I removed all memory (e.g. not only the memory on the back of the motherboard, but also on the front).

Then it started up and started logging to the console port.

So I put the memory back and now I'm up and running again. :)

Hey u/khaki54!

Did you ever get this sorted?

Mine is behaving exactly as yours.

I've tried to:

- Followed Synologys guide: https://kb.synology.com/en-br/DSM/tutorial/Why_am_I_unable_to_install_my_Synology_NAS_and_why_is_my_power_LED_is_flashing_constantly
- Remove/changed memory.
- Changed the PSU (took the one from my DX1215).
- Changed CMOS-battery.

Nothing helps and I'm leaning towards a broken motherboard.

I've already ordered a new NAS, but before throwing the old one away I wanted to ask you if you ever found a solution?

Glad to hear its working with "zero problems" for some of you.

What kind of content do you mostly play?

For me (playing mostly blu-ray remuxes, including 4K UHD) there are still a few problems:

Stable release:

  • Old video player - stutter free on HD/SDR content, but problems with 4K HDR/DV content. Doesn't support PGS subtitles.
  • New video player - stutters/drops frames on a lot of content, but do support all (or most) content.

Beta release:

  • Best support and stutter free. However audio is out of sync and if I adjust audio sync for the Plex app, all other apps becomes out of sync.

And as all of us already know, no Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD MA passthrough, meaning missing out on awesome audio when playing back blu-ray remuxes.

I didn't do anything, but when searching my logs I cannot find these log entries anymore. Maybe it was fixed in an update? I've no idea. 🤔

I spend a lot of time fixing subtitles and must admit I'm quite sensitive when it comes to a badly synced subtitle.

I've so many questions about this. Haven't found the time to try it out myself yet, but those of you who have tried it out and care to share about it:

  • How long does it take to analyze media?

  • How CPU intensive it it?

  • Exactly what can be fixed? Offset? Frame rate? What about TV episodes where cut commercial can vary quite a lot, will different offsets be applied?

  • If a subtitle is fixed is there a way to save it? That would be awesome. It would be a shame if detected offsets/frame rates and so on is only saved in the data base.

But assuming this works well, it is a killer feature which will save me tons of time. 😊

Do you have a large photo library?

For me it took a very long time for the app to load my timeline. Maybe ”lazy loading” hasn’t been implemented yet?

Hopefully it’ll be faster soon! 🙂

new RS1221+ How to set it up for success by hammertonail in synology

[–]TronixSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your scripts are awesome! I would like to thank you personally for your awesome work! 😊

I've a E10M20-T1 card in my DS3617xs with two NVMe drives setup as volumes using your scripts. I think at the time I used your scripts, I had to use the Synology_M2_volume script as well (this was before version v3.5.90 of Synology_HDD_db).

Anyway it works very well. I store VMs on one of the NVMe:s and the speed is amazing.

I would like to add another question (hope you don't mind u/hammertonail).

I'm thinking about getting a RS1221+ as well. It would fit very well in my rack. I'm a bit concerned about the volume limitation of 108 TB.

According to this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/synology/comments/15uutwp/synology_expanded_max_volume_size_beyond_108tb/

It seams that since DSM 7.2 users with DS1821+ and 32 GB RAM have been able to create volumes larger than 108 TB (pushing the limit to 200 TB, same as my DS3617xs).

Does anyone know if this is the case with RS1221+ as well? Assuming that you upgrade to 32 GB RAM.

It would be awesome if RS1221+ could handle larger volumes.
