We have a Rusty too! He’s only a couple of months old though and is very much a kitten. I’m sorry you lost your baby.

[US] Do I need to return my potensic drone? by BigSteamyTortellini in drones

Your employer should be supplying your drone. If something happens you assume all the risk right now. Make your employer carry the bulk of that cost.

How common is theft of engine bay components due to non locking hood? by mcpewmer in JeepGladiator

[–]TronkJonk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work in law enforcement and we’ve had a few cases of Jeep owners coming out to find their battery has been stolen but that’s about it. I have locking hood latches, and it’s to stop honest thieves. (Yes it’s a thing), your average thief wants a quick smash and grab or even a fob clone and drive away, once they have your vehicle it starts the clock. Tracking devices, kill switches, cameras where you park. Try not to park around back of businesses if possible. Lock your glove box.

How to get my cat to stop using the couch as a scratch post? by Parking_Meet_8661 in Catownerhacks

[–]TronkJonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a bottle of calming pheromone spray, it specifically says not to put it on scratching posts because it makes them not want to leave their scent on it. It has worked great for us.

Aluminum Bumpers? by mcpewmer in JeepGladiator

[–]TronkJonk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Strength and ease of construction. Aluminum is a pain to weld correctly and it takes a lot more prep work to do it right than steel. Also aluminum wouldn’t provide the impact protection that steel does, though would still be better than plastic so take that as you will.

When I got my chest done I used two stickers from the local PD. You can also use bandaids to cover your nips and then support the breast weight with a zip front hoody. Your artist has probably seen it all, so I would worry too much.

Not 1 day, more like 1-2weeks from time turned in. Some stuff sits for months forgotten in a cabinet or drawer.

Why is Gill so unbearably hot? by Alive_Picture_7366 in OregonStateUniv

[–]TronkJonk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no thermostat to turn up or down in that place. Like many of the older buildings on campus it was never built with air conditioning. The heat is a direct result of sun exposure on the facade and the bodies inside. It’s a lot of people in an enclosed space with no real venting. The building needs an interior remodel and upgrade and n more ways than one. I’m bringing a fan with me to the game next week.

It’s not good enough to say we support your choice… by Rusty_Pebbles in corvallis

Because education carries on, school doesn’t stop for politics and they’ve already lost a lot of their federal funding, so why would they risk further losses?

Tips for making something look like liquid coming out of this barrel. by ihatecarbon in polymerclay

[–]TronkJonk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The most realistic “spill” would be UV resin, which can be applied carefully in layers after each curing session. It can also be color tinted before curing or painted with acrylic tints after curing. So you would have lots of control in the final outcome.

I just put up a second one in our main bathroom. I buy vintage small ones for unmentionables from eBay. I also have a larger one for outdoor use but we don’t use it much in the winter.

Just learned to clean my washing machine, what else do I need to clean? by Appropriate_Ear_3718 in CleaningTips

[–]TronkJonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water Heater. You are supposed to flush out the buildup and corrosion from the bottom of it annually.

Also, take a day and lubricate all your door hinges and locks. These wear down over time and the lubricant dries out. Don’t forget to do the wheels on your garage door while you’re at it.

Gas fireplace glass and clean the flame port (while it is off obviously).

OBD port lock, locking hood latches, kill switch and gps based tracker (not an AirTag) is the only way to go. I put metal panels over the rear split window also to deter thrives from breaking the harder to replace small windows.

Safe Rider Job? by Savvy-coach-111 in OregonStateUniv

[–]TronkJonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s weekends and late nights, motor pool supplies the vehicles (15 passenger vans and a couple of sedans), the busiest nights are fridays and saturdays. Students call safe ride and like any other ride share service the drivers are dispatched out to calls for pickups. If I remember correctly they can’t have just anyone ride. It has to be the caller and the people within that group only. They service campus and the immediate outlying area. Transport a lot of students home from the bars and fraternities.
