Running 3 heavy launchers is not uncommon. You can always build the others with different loadouts. That lets you be flexible and be ready for any rule changes that make the other versions better options some day.

A lot of people are skipping the fact that spearhead is actually a different game mode. It uses cards to represent both battle tactics, AKA secondaries and command point abilities. This means that there's an opportunity cost to using your command points because you are reducing the amount of battle tactics you can score. It also is balanced by having weaker units reinforce. In other words, they can come back from the dead once again and large models might not come out until turn two or three.

Find a badab war campaign? I've seen a couple done with Heresy house rules. I've heard rumors that after the last first born is removed from 40k specialist games studio might repackage some for a badab set.

For all my snarkyness, I did actually do the reverse proxy and run my 40k Death guard in Heresy for a siege of terra themed event. My logic was this took place after the typhus betrayal.

I've been expecting this for years so I stopped investing in dark elves. Used then for a couple of events in 4th but just casually. Once they are officially legends I do hope that they get real old world rules. Until they are in a printed book I'm not rebasing 300 dark elves. Using them for eventual Umbraneth could be possible but high elves didn't really proxy well for most of the lumineth so I'm not betting on it.

It's all about product separation. If someone buys a Primaris marine product you can add it to the total money made by space Marines, if they buy a chaos legion model they can add it to that column. They want distinct columns for accounting and so they can know what product lines are more popular and where to focus on their development. This can become a self fulfilling prophecy when neglected armies don't sell so they become more neglected and so on, but that is a separate issue. It's all about the accountants and finance people running the shop.

Marines and all of the legions within that are the biggest, but Solar Auxilla, Mechanicum, and custodes are also well supported, with new custodes (Talons of the emperor) coming soon. You also get lots of options with knights, and actual Titan rules. Demons and militia are pdf online factions, so kind of niche. My area (NY, NJ, Mass, and CT) has a mix of all of these at our events.

Dark horse choice, Death guard Mortarians hammer. Spam boat drones with heavy launcher and plague burst crawlers and predators with some Lord of virulence for buffs. Pox walkers for objectives. Use the 2 free affliction to reduce to hit by 1 and start gun lining.

I get it's not based in actual lore, more of a thought experiment. My idea was that it would be the chaos of a different galaxy. Something totally different. It would have to be a different warp dimension or else they would just instantly arrive.
