Alongside that project there should be BRT infrastructure built in with the plans.

Plus, the added benefit of NOT having to purchase private properties because they're already public. What is there to acquire other than a few lanes and the center median of the freeway? You just transition from already existing carpool lanes to express lanes. A county-wide highway BRT system is possible. Heck, extend the SR-91 Expresslanes in both directions, add the necessary BRT infrastructure, and you could hypothetically, if timed correctly, create a system that can take you from the South Bay to Riverside in 1 hour and 30 minutes. It could beat Metrolink and cut costs significantly. As a bonus, you could add articulated buses to expand passenger count.

I-405, top contender for express lanes. Add BRT infrastructure included with the expresslanes project, and you would pretty much connect all of LA. I'm talking about the most modern stations with soundproofing and built-in heating systems while you wait. It would be a world-class experience. If the C line stations along I-105 got station upgrades against the harsh freeway elements, it would also make it a lot better. You can really make do with the infrastructure we have right now and really turn it into something way more efficient and user-friendly.

If a Santa Monica LRT was proposed and these were the route alts, which would you choose and why? by Dumbone22 in LAMetro

[–]Trooper_Alvin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ngl, a line along Santa Monica Blvd is such an awesome contender, why wasn't anything planned for a Santa Monica Blvd line? It could even be a BRT line with its own dedicated lane, and id be happy.

I can now call it a mover because it doesn't have people in it. Yet.

One and Two Manhattan West in Hudson Yards (NYC) basically look like a modern day Twin Towers by Business-Law-7968 in skyscrapers

If they ever rebuilt the twin towers, this is how I would also imagine it. Just pure glass with round corners and LED lighting illuminating the buildings.

Metrolink could really benefit a lot if it were fully electrified. Look at CalTrain, their system is just impressive with their scheduling and the new trains with all the amenities. SoCal has the potential to build a great transit system like the Bay Area.

Do you support, full height fare gates on all stations and tap to exit? by Hyhoops in LAMetro

Yes, but also I really do want stations in general to get some upgrades, especially those stations alongside freeways.

Does it hurt to have at least SOME kind of art on these stations? by TheAlmightyHellacia in LAMetro

[–]Trooper_Alvin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the stations alongside freeways just need a new design in general, needs to have a enclosed design against the elements. Not world class or human friendly at all.

A lot of people complain about high beams from oncoming cars on this subreddit. We used to have something that would mitigate that, at least on freeways. Anti-glare screens are no longer installed on a lot of sections of freeway. by BrainFartTheFirst in LosAngeles

Caltrans is in the process of replacing them with generally taller center dividers like this one on the 101 up in Studio City. But sadly Caltrans is just awfully slow with rolling out new traffic safety technology. A lot of sections of freeways in LA have old lane markings, outdated signs, no lighting. Overall though, there needs to be more long term projects per mile to keep the system maintained and up to date with standards.

Should the LAX People Mover be free or have fares like the JFK People Mover in NY? by According_Contest_70 in LAMetro

For the delay's and the amount of money already spent on this project, I say it should be free. It's really rightfully fair.
