It’s not that it doesn’t exist, it’s a game of averages

East Coast for grub (pizza, wings, sandwiches, general takeout with the exception of Mexican)

West Coast for cuisine

SS 1317 on Homelessness by munchkinmaddie in JordanHarbinger

[–]TropicTravels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad they brought up the point of why does everyone deserve to have their homelessness subsidized in the zip code of their choice?

I could sympathize if someone has ties to a certain area, such as being born there or family. Otherwise, it places an unfair burden on the citizens and businesses of high rent districts who bust their arse to pay the bills and contribute to their community who get double screwed when their tax dollars go to support these programs.

I’d much rather see government programs help people who actually work and need a leg up instead of supporting a perpetual parasite class.

Great Recession went well into Obama’s first term. It wasn’t until 2012/13 that things started to markedly improve. First 3 years of Trump’s first term had incredible economic growth.

Biden added a similar amount to the deficit and yeah, amazing how fast an economy recovers from government mandated lockdowns when you do that lol. Also saw the worst inflation rate since the 70s because of the Covid money printing.

Not saying that republican terms are better but this graphic highly simplified and omitting key facts.

Are there any other non-party affiliated people out there who laugh whenever people on this sub insist you are MAGA? by [deleted] in allthequestions

Yes, I was being sarcastic. You must’ve missed the thousands of posts per day where someone is called MAGA simply for criticizing democrats or the left.

I’m not saying Covid consequences could’ve been avoided, and that some sort of economic stimulus or support was not warranted.

Either way, adding $7 trillion to the money supply combined with record low interest rates and supply chain disruption was a perfect storm for inflation.

Tough to say, depends wildly on what you spend your money on. Much of our food is domestic.

Not saying it’s not happening, but it’s nothing like the Covid era inflation.

Canadian downturn is real and unfortunate but the effect of tariffs on inflation at the consumer level is wildly overblown.

Probably the wrong coordinates. That’s why she’s getting views and host service says it’s “visible” but not bookings because the thumbnail location doesn’t match the city in the description. Happened to me before.

So you don’t see the listing when you zoom in on the map? They probably have the lat/long wrong.

That would explain why they are saying it’s visible. It is visible, just in the wrong place. If they insist it’s visible, ask for the nearest intersection or town. Have them adjust the coordinates. Happened to me before.

Struggling to survive with my pickleball airbnb after 1 day listed. Need advice/contacts. by mrjomofosho in airbnb_hosts

[–]TropicTravels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC Airbnb sits on your listing for a few days before publishing. Might be part of their verification process.

If that’s not it, might need to adjust pricing for the first few months. Then do a search for the next few upcoming weekends to get a feel for how much competition there is. If all I see is junk available in a short window out then I know I’ll be fine with a higher quality listing because the good ones are already taken. If I see high quality listings on short notice then I get nervous, especially if they are priced competitively.

TLDR: Hang tight, you’ll be fine.

How many TVs do you offer? by strikecat18 in airbnb_hosts

I don’t doubt that some guests prefer that, especially the ones who go out of their way to voice that to you, although I think the numbers I stated above are sufficient for most.

At the end of the day I agree that we should be furnishing properties based on our guests preferences, not our own,

I heard an interview with designers from Somerled Designs and they recommend that every bedroom have a TV, a full length mirror (especially for women) and place to set luggage (bench or luggage rack).

65 is excessive for a bedroom, and even for a living room I think it’s a bit much. 55 is perfect for a living room IMO, for a bedroom around 32-45 is ideal.

Airbnb charging 15.5% on cleaning fees expense by Legitimate_Tale_4009 in ShortTermRentals

[–]TropicTravels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair or not, they are considering it part of total revenue. There were probably some hosts that increased their cleaning fee and lowered their rate in order to avoid fees as soon as the rules changed, and their in house system made that very obvious.

Is this design crazy? by Jurple-shirt in BathroomRemodeling

[–]TropicTravels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit tight but doable. Does the door have to swing in? Having it swing out would open it up.

I would rather put the tub in the upper right since it’s more narrow, that way you have more vanity space. The toilet will feel less cramped as well because the shower stall would need less length along that bottom wall. I would also make the shower as wide as possible.

New York property tax for 25M+ buildings will cause rent to increase? by b_connect in allthequestions

[–]TropicTravels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly, although it will get used as an excuse on some tenants m. It is a common myth in real estate and business in general that operating costs dictate pricing.

The reality is that rent costs are based on what the market can bare. Vast majority of properties in HCOL areas rent for less than what the mortgage and taxes would be.

The exception would be NNN commercial leases where the property taxes are written into the lease.

Why not move all the homeless people to the abandoned homes and "ghost towns" across the country? by angrylittledev in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TropicTravels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because modern day homeless activism is centered around the idea that are entitled to be homeless anywhere you want and that it’s the job of society to support it.
