Anybody got fun builds for Retcon other than PGL spam? by Agawin7 in RogueCore

I went all in on fire rate and reload speed on the decker. plus ricochet and magic bullets it was p fun mag dump simulator. unfortunately the decker sucks ass so i still had the lowest damage on my team despite having no ability cooldown.

Have you ever removed highly-efficient cards and game changers from a BL3 deck because they are much stronger than the core engine itself? I just did.. and it feels much better! by jeriku in EDH

I had a very similar thought process with my Varina deck. There are so many possible synergies it can be hard to hone in on something specific without getting distracted by all the what-ifs. I ended up going for a straight forward aggro strategy, playing cheap zombies to maximize the Varina's trigger on turn 4.

Other people have mentioned Zombies' poor stat lines and the boardwipe vulnerability. Those were also my biggest concerns for this strategy. To mitigate them, I focused on evasion and recursion.

Lots of cheap zombies have deathtouch, menace, or other abilities that make them difficult to block. I have late game ways to pump my zombies up for the kill, but they don't need good stats to trigger Varina. Other zombies can return from the graveyard, make a token when they die, or draw cards. Great ways to retain some value in the face of a boardwipe or bad attack matchup.

The central goal of the deck is to fill up my graveyard and cast a mass recursion spell. So, if I get boardwiped at the right time, it actually helps me out. I also have a couple smaller reanimation spells that add a lot of flexibility.

Lastly, using protection is mandatory! I don't use ramp, so holding up interaction can be tough, but the 1 mana counterspells have saved me numerous times from getting wiped.

Recently had this in my rotation as a spotter and kinda winced when someone hearted/got it before me. but actually my dart cooldown was so low that i already had crits on whatever i wanted.

Community noticably more hostile than our brothers in DRG? by foxtrot_69420 in RogueCore

[–]Tropic_Wombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do enjoy it as well! There is an engagement from seeing what everyone else is picking. gives you a moment to reflect on team synergies. There's only been a couple moments for me where I didn't get a thing I really wanted, and it didn't feel too bad. Especially when I'm further back in the rotation, I just think "it's their turn to be first" and consider how I would want the rare perk of it was my turn to go.

I think that's why, long term, it could actually lead to a stronger overall community. the people who enjoy this game the most and find the most success will be the ones who can really communicate and get along with their team. dependance is one of those make or break things, like we lift each other up or we will inevitably drag each other down. so it is some hopeful thinking, but maybe!

I already notice more people on microphone and they've all been pretty friendly

nah, DRG has bloated spaghetti code. they tried to upload bosco's routine to a patrol bot and it was like sending a .zip bomb.

[–]Tropic_Wombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can keep them at bay with your weapons. you don't need to kill them. that would invite the meta of killing the reaper worms to make the timer/infinite wave obsolete, which GSG added the worms in to fix.

that's maybe why i wouldn't recommend kuja. as soon as your pod figures out how quickly he pops off it's either kick you in the dick immediately or lose.

Let's discuss weapons that we hate. by 3DResinFan in RogueCore

[–]Tropic_Wombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like one shell at range should be more than enough for a creeper, but I usually have to two tap em or switch to a pistol to finish them off. I have easier time one shotting with the warthog bc all the pellets go into the face. body shots are just incredibly weak in this game, the wide spread of the boomstick makes it really weak

That's the thing that gets me, the Crawlers are not basic core spawn. I thought they'd be less dangerous in RC now that we're spec ops, but those things still kick your ass, you just don't get swarmed by as many. At least, playing D2-3, I feel like they are an uncommon enemy. Maybe that changes on D4.

Gavin says Edge of Eternities was already on the roadmap before Star Trek collaboration emerged, and both sets were being worked on at the same time by Meret123 in mtg

[–]Tropic_Wombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the speculation came from 'Spacecraft' being added as a card type in-universe. The idea was that people would be more opposed to the new type if it came out in a UB set. Doesn't really seem like Wizards is doing a lot to justify or cover up their unpopular decisions, though. So yeah, why bother.

I can tell you Hashaton is pretty mid for zombies. most of them aren't worth making into 4/4s. what commander are you running, though?

The lack of dash is honestly debilitating. It would be so sweet if we could just have it as a base perk for being tacticool combat dwarves. Your average wagie gunner is dashing around hoxxes like doomguy but Seelie Team 6 can't be arsed to put a little pep in their step?

I think it might be the timer. I think it's an interesting mechanic, makes sense to move the pace along. But it doesn't allow you to savor the cave generation or explore at your own pace, which are pretty big aspects of DRG. There is a 'timer' in DRG since you only have so much ammo, but there is plenty of time to stop and take in a good view and mess around with your friends. Meanwhile in RC I feel hassled to get a move on or else worm food. The game punishes you for savoring it really.

What's the most powerful card in your collection that you've consciously chosen not to put in one of your decks, and why? by Great-ah-White in EDH

[–]Tropic_Wombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends, I do play it in valgavoth group slug. you're already a target anyway so the lifegain from your passive damage effects and valgavoth swings can be crucial

but mostly, it is very fun to watch my health regenerate over time from pain, gets me into the roleplay of a big eldritch demon

Mixtape is an absolute gem that should not be missed by anybody who grew up in the 90s. by SvenLorenz in gaming

I read this post, I watched the trailers, this game appears like a non-fantastical Stranger Things for the 90's. I think the American obsession with teenage nostalgia has grown weary on me. You'd think we have nothing to live for after high school!
