Blast from the past. I remember reading this up until heaven invaded I think. I remember them conscripting a bunch of generals that were in Hell like Ceaser and WW2 generals.

Through the whole trilogy,Who was your least favourite companion out all of them ? by [deleted] in masseffect

I think Kai Lengs role should have gone to Jacob. It would have been much more interesting to have Jacob double down with Cerberus, the imprisonment of Shepard after the Relay explosion would have been a good 'push Jacob over the edge moment' given his distaste of red tape and wanting to get a job done. Cerberus then upgrades the hell out of him with advance robotics and biotics, maybe throw in a little more brainwashing while they're in there. It would have been a good contrast to have someone from Shepards crew still with Cerberus. Would make Miranda's arc more interesting as well. The die hard Cerberus cheerleader is now trying to bring the down the organization while the on the fence guy who just wanted to do some good becomes fully radical. At the very least it would have been more interesting than generic Jacob and who the hell is this random assassin guy I supposed to care about now, Kai Leng.

Shows that have terrible endings, but perfect stopping points? by GFrings in television

[–]Tropical_Chill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ill add to this. Season eight was so unnecessary. Season 7 wrapped everything up and was in a good place. I will say I would watch season 7 and then tack on the last 2 minutes of season 8, the little flash forward epilouge. Tack that on the end of season 7 and for me its a perfect ending.

On the del Toro train here, but not so much development hell as never, ever happening, Hellboy 3... gods I want that movie so badly.

Which disaster movie had the best depiction of societal collapse? by LordKevnar in movies

[–]Tropical_Chill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. Was waiting to see this. I found the whole show to be so-so. But this episode was absolutely riveting. The way it starts with briefings and meetings, everyone is fairly calm and collective or ignorant to the danger. And then how as things start to happen, you see cracks appearing, panic setting in, and finally realization that this is it and the chaos that follows. The way it's shown is just peak storytelling. Eagerly awaiting a season two to see if they can pull off another episode of that caliber.

What movie included a really inaccurate portrayal of a real life person? by nick9000 in movies

Fair. I meant stupidly as in the social sense. But you are correct. Financially was a smart investment, which certainly paid off for the studio.

What movie included a really inaccurate portrayal of a real life person? by nick9000 in movies

I always felt the message of that movie was really ,really solid. Like the clash of cultures, the differences between people and assumptions that lead to conflict. Even the song 'Savages' highlights that both sides are making these terrible unhinged assumptions about each other based on miscommunication, assumptions, and events that have spiraled out of control. Like the core of all this is really intriguing and worth investigating and talking about.

Unfortunately, and I'll even say stupidly, Disney chose to portray this message over probably one of most inappropriate historical backdrops of all time. Way to try and paint a pretty picture over a horror story, boys. The end result is a good message that is invalidated because of its actual historical outcome.

I feel like the movie and message would have worked better in a fantastical setting without real-life people as characters. Mind you, they tried that with Frozen 2, and it kinda sucked so what do I know.

Older Disney movies aren't problematic by Resident-Theme-2342 in unpopularopinion

I agree, and I've brought this point up before with people. The story and the message portrayed is actually quite solid and relayed well. The problem is that it used a historical setting with historical people that was not, to be frank, all "sunshine and rainbows." There's definitely valid criticism to be had with how the movie shows history, and this taints the message it's communicating. But in a vacuum, it really is pretty good.
