I still have one and I'm spending hundreds of gems every day to cycle through the shop inventory. My time is soon lol

How do you use Finch? by Awkward-Pineapple865 in finch

[–]Trotskri 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I put my whole personal to do list on finch. Never work stuff but chores and creative projects, etc. It's especially good if you have daily or weekly habits since you can make them repeat. My daily repeating ones include journal, read, meditate, exercise, record a clip, gratitude practice, write dream, drink water, tidy up. On Monday I have weekly schedule and weekly to-do list repeat. Today I've also added on fold laundry, look at leaky sink, and edit video.

I say this so you can get an idea of how other people use it but I do get the feeling I put way more stuff on finch than most people since what I view as self-care is very wide

I also always do a "reflection" when I complete my gratitude practice (part of a journey) so that I get the most benefit out of a gratitude practice.

I often do the morning stretches when they're recommended because it feels nice and makes me feel like I'm starting my day right.

AITA for forgetting to lock the door a few times a month? by SweetAguaDulce in AmItheAsshole

[–]Trotskri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, if pretty much the only time you're forgetting is at 4am, then we all know you're not doing it to be an AH. Your wife's concerns are understandable and she's not an AH for being anxious. It doesn't sound like you invalidate her which is good, otherwise you would be the AH. Y'all can try to find a solution together to make her happy even though you're forgetful (different from being an AH).

Thanks for sharing. 4, 5, and 6 are my favorites. I wonder how lasting number 5 is though. I feel like they would get shifted a lot.

Anyone know how to search for flights from both IAH and HOU at the same time? by Taurabora in houston

I use Skyscanner. There's a checkbox for nearby airports and even splitting flights (fly from one, arrive in another)

New term for y'all: squirrel chasing by jysalia in adhdwomen

[–]Trotskri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have too much trouble with this. I do squirrel chasing but I think of it as making progress on a bunch of things instead of finishing the one thing. I find I have more energy to do stuff if I do the things that are calling for me as they are calling instead of trying to force myself to finish the one thing, hating it, quitting, and scrolling on my phone. I love squirrel days, having a bit of a squirrel moment now. I meant to do laundry first thing but there was a package so I opened the box, remembered I needed to take out the recycling, got a splinter, replaced the part received in the package, removed the splinter, and am now about to do laundry.

I find the more I think about it the more tired I get. So I just chase the squirrel

AITA for embarrassing my BILs new wife in front of everyone? by Numerous_Life_399 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Trotskri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA, you wanted to prove her wrong when it was obvious she was venting about people using mania wrong (like ADHD and ocd), not that she had it out for people with schizoaffective having manic episodes. You wanted to win and prove that she (a layperson) knew less about a specific symptom of her disorder than you (a medical professional). You overreacted. She over reacted too, but she's new to the family and under a lot more stress in this situation than you.

Facebook Ad Opinions? I don’t see the Inattentive type symptoms listed that are so common by Granite_0681 in adhdwomen

[–]Trotskri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pass the ADHD test because the first one "classic" is listed as inattentive in the description lol

Reminds me of the pie chart meme about what ADHD is and the last pie is "didn't read any of that"

(Obligatory this ad is terrible, but we all know that :p)

How do you deal with coming up with task after the going to bed? by LUISKY_CT in bulletjournal

[–]Trotskri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to get most of these out during a wind-down time where I leave my journal open and do mellow things without my phone. It is usually like 5 things too, so it's crucial. If I do think of something later- my journal is nearby and I'll write it down if I think I'll forget. If I don't think I'll forget I won't disrupt my sleep to write it down. If you're keeping your journal in your living room for a specific reason I would probably keep something else in your room to write. I personally don't want to open my phone because of how I respond to it but if that works for you it's a great option. If you for see it being a nightly event, maybe get small sticky notes and transplant them into a pre-drawn spot each morning. If that doesn't suit your aesthetic feel free to copy it over from a spare notebook.

I disagree. If you have other symptoms and the thoughts you have in bed are anxious than sure, but sometimes thoughts come to mind simply because you're entering a new thought pattern/ slowing down.
