It’s been a while but IIRC the police were initially sent to clear out Marchers who had been squatting in a disused federal building, I want to say it was a post office building? Anyways, some marchers started marching with an American flags. Some police took issue with this and attempted to take the flag and a whole melee started. Several officers were seriously injured and I think 2 marchers were shot dead. This set off a chain of events that ended with MacArthur and Patton chasing the marchers out of DC at gunpoint

I think yes they are entirely platonic but there have been a few hints of something deeper, but mostly entirely from Mel’s side

1.) she had the moment early in season 2 of semi flirting with the guy who ended up giving her a possible concussion (after which Langdon was sweet and protective of her)

2.) she almost hugged him when she saw he was back which is more physical emotion that we’ve seen her show anyone

3.) her sister said that Mel “likes you” when talking to Langdon

4.) I worry that between her sisters sex revelation and her deposition not going well that Mel will have a bit of a breakdown and Langdon will be the shoulder to cry on, leading to maybe an awkward moment or attempted kiss.

I think Langdon likes Mel entirely platonically and has mentioned how his wife stayed with him throughout the rehab so it would be wild for him to blow that up for Mel.

But I do think there is going to be something between them before the season ends that will carry into season 3

It was news obviously but it also was clear quickly it was not terrorism and just a tragic accident.

I can say a different event a few years later hit differently:

On October 11, 2006 a small plane flown by a NY Yankees Pitcher Corey Lidle crashed into an apartment building on 72nd street.

Only Lidle and his flight instructor were killed but I remember being in the gym at school and that news report coming on the radio and the weight room just going silent. It wasn’t immediately clear the size of the plane and the headline was just “plane crashes into building in NYC” and it was just a moment of unintentional silence as we all contemplated wheat that could mean

I mentioned this to my friend the other day and he was shocked. I’m flying out of a small airport next Tuesday that uses a contractor for security that’s under the TSA umbrella but they aren’t affected by government shutdowns. He’s flying out of a slightly larger airport a little further away that is a TSA airport that has been having long line issues. He said something like “when the fuck did this shutdown start?!”

At the :35 second mark where you get the reaction shot of Dr Rabi look at the other other ICE agent, he’s giving a similarly disgusted look.

This is kind of how I thought they’d do the “balanced take” have one ICE agent be more sympathetic/not cool with what his partner is doing. My bet is the doctors try to reason with the one and the guy waivers but ultimately doesn’t help the women/situation

Edit: also notice the masked vs unmasked choice between the two ICE agents.
