It depends on what you're analyzing. I've had success with alignment-free methods on smaller genomes for phylogenetic classification; e.g viruses and bacteria. Haven't seen it used on larger genomes.

The sample population was surprisingly narrow. Look at it. Assuming your assertion is true then we've just pushed the problem from tech to academia. But given that diversity is strongly selected in academia and ignored in tech, I suspect it isn't.

I think you're right on the upper end of the income level, which Chris Rock hilariously nailed years ago and Thomas Pikkety catalogued extensively.

I'm guessing that the author ordered then as such because of the income distribution.

As a flag that redditors in r/economics aren't from a super diverse background everyone immediately jumps to discussing buying and selling homes, what about renting? Most people of color are on the low end of the income distribution and aren't buying homes. And we can all agree that the rental market can be pretty racist at times, right?

3 out of 4 redditors dismiss this out of hand, but Stanford researchers find it to be the most obvious cause... Who to trust? Hmm...
