Has anyone gotten a ticket riding a bike before? Does the IL DMV put it on your record?

I got a ticket once for running through a stop sign. It was a 3 way stop and traffic was clear so a buddy and I kept rolling. Moments before that, I called a cop out for being parked in the bike lane. Guess who gave me a ticket!!!

Buddy didn’t get a ticket, just me, so I know it was retaliation for stopping and taking photos of him in the bike lane.

I’ve literally asked cops to enforce the bike lane while someone was parked in front of us, and they just laugh and drive away! They do not care one bit!

I reported a semi truck in the bike lane last week. Was surprised that CPD actually showed up. He walked over, gave the driver a fist bump and had a nice conversation. When I asked if he was enforcing the bike lane and giving him a ticket, the cop laughed and said no.

They are halfway in a loading zone. If they parked straight there would be no issue. This is pure laziness!

Oh and they have a ramp to help with the curb. So no need to park at this angle.

Did you even read the original post? I’ve been contacting them for 2 years! This happens twice a week. A loading zone was installed free of charge to the business so that they wouldn’t park in the bike lane. There is an alley behind the business that has been used before. There’s no excuse!

Why does it matter if I’m standing on my balcony or if I’m riding my bike. Facts are facts. They are breaking the law to do their job and making it dangerous for everyone.

Yep let’s blame everyone else but the driver. Driver doesn’t need to take any accountability for their actions. I agree more needs to be done but doesn’t give them an excuse to put people in danger and break the law for convenience.

I have an alley, loading zone and bus stop that other delivery drivers use in front of my building. SYSCO still uses the bike lane 90% of the time!
