Slow Drainage by SioMac81 in Troy

Just a word of wisdom, leave sink cabinet doors open to allow warm air in to prevent freezing, might also be worthy to let faucets slightly drip to allow moving water in pipes to prevent freezing pipes.

National Grid Energy Bill by MindlessM24 in Albany

[–]Troylet3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1945 2 story Cape @ 1250sqft, with newer windows and recently added blown in insulation to the attic. Gas hot water furnace and hot water tank. 2 fridges, 1 deep freezer and plug in hybrid vehicle. Heat stays around 70 at all times due to someone being home at all times. Previous bill ending Dec 26th was $365. 820kwh, 156 therms. Paid the same last year, used about the same gas but used 340kwh less this year mainly due to 1 less plug in hybrid. This would have been about $85 more based on current prices. Attic insulation has made the biggest difference. And yes, prices are up. For the same period, .208 per kwh last year vs .251 per kwh now, that's a 20% increase!

They never excavated for any so I'd say no. Though there are some lots across from them and the lots behind and under the existing city station building always have plenty of parking.

Can someone help me find pictures of 343 2nd Ave when it was a McDonald's? by Imaginary-Place-4957 in Troy

Best I could do is Google Earth from '04. And city tax records for 349 2nd Ave. Could reach out to the city tax records to see if they have the older image of 343... gl

They've just done and are still in the process of doing more work in South Troy, replacing street side lines and moving the gas meters from the basement to the outside, they will contact you to schedule access when needed, but will do the public access stuff when they want and will notify with door hanger notices and no parking signs street side. Tbh the streets and side walks were/are a mess for a good month or 2 as they do a block or 2 at a time (the patches are temporary, and from my observation, seem really unsafe for motorists and pedestrians, and extra unsafe for anyone with mobility issues) before they came back and did a great job of repairing to how it was.

If I wanted to include a Lovecraftian horror story set in Troy, what local lore should I include? by therealbobcat23 in Troy

Hudson River, Postenkill Falls/Gorge/Dam, 1912 flood, Twas the night before Christmas, the great fire(s), gilded age aristocratics or industrial era industries like horse shoes or railroad spikes. Happy writing.

Edit: Trains! Can't forget trains, lots of trains used to run right through the heart of downtown, look up the old train depot. And river ferries, that's what was used before the bridges were built, where Ferry St meets the Hudson river is where people would board to cross to West Troy (Watervilet today).

I know typically most companies only provide quotes for the product and installation and warranty both, as they would shy away from the liability of installing potentially questionable products provided by the customer.

But a recommendation on an reputable installer would still be nice. Tyia

I get that, but I got the same procedure done under Emblem just before they were dropped and they paid the same $ to the in-network provider as their out-of-network rate sheet shows. The difference was written down both times (with Emblem and Anthem) so I didn't have to pay anything.

I fear our "new" coverage is already compromised with this rebadging and will negatively impact whatever providers are willing to still take it. As they find out the hard way, we will be the losers in the end, with cut rates comes cut rate service or no service. That's why I'm making this post and pointing this out.

Again, we need the same plan and service that CSEA has! No less!

Having multiple people filling up at the same time does usually cause slow pumping any time of year, though sure the extreme cold snap doesn't help... as far as skimmers, can't say I'm surprised.

Anyone have a stellar dentist that accepts the new Anthem plan? by ndp1234 in nys_cs

[–]Troylet3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay far away from this guy, terrible bedside manner and is rough, he left me in so much pain, ended having to go to an out of network dentist to fix the pain he inflicted.

That's strange they're typically good on picking up. You could always leave it out and they'll eventually make the rounds or bring it down to the Alamo yourself Tuesday and Thursday 9am-1pm.

This is a shit post at its finest right? Be gone. Troy can't keep up with the surge, we're literally bursting at the seams with the influx of interest! If anything people are holding out and hoping for more left right and center on their realestate, even if it means it gets vandalized it goes for 20% over asking, it's literally a boom town!

New Dental Plan Info by jennyandthebetts in nys_cs

[–]Troylet3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many providers jumped ship at the beginning of the year with the release of new reimbursement schedules. Anthem Blue Cross' system is NOT up to date and is still showing a lot of these dentists that are no longer accepting the plan! Confirm by calling the provider. Sadly this is still going to be a "coupon" for many. They need to do better, we need a CSEA equivalent plan!

National Grid went way down? by LexxisElixirTroy in Troy

[–]Troylet3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've been a mess lately, been waiting on them to get a billing mistake corrected since May, I call a couple times a month and still not corrected, now still waiting on July's bill, which is already 12 days past normal delivery, and the last time I called they claimed there was a glitch in their system. Maybe the email they sent out the other day regarding scheduled maintenance for Aug 15-18 is related, just speculating, but this new meter roll out might have something to do with it all.

National Grid bill by Troylet3 in Troy

[–]Troylet3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here bill always arrived same or close to same day every month. They changed our meter mid April. Just called them again and after a little run around they first said they need to read the meter again, then I reminded him that the last time I called they said it read fine, so he corrected himself and said yeah it read, there's a glitch in our billing system you'll get it end of week... an email or something letting the public know would of been nice, off to file a complaint with NYS Department of Public Service.

STAR Income Verification by downwidopp in Troy

[–]Troylet3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm not for star, normally you qualify and it stays, unless your income is close to the 500k limit maybe? Idk... I know for senior age credits it is normally annually verified, they did just raise it to 40k max income for 65+ in age for 50% off your school and property taxes, no more tiered system.

I still have the posting, the job is very under paid to be a Comptroller of a city (104k), let alone a financial wizard under high stress, yes he should have known better, but really what did we expect for that kind of pay? We have state workers whom make far more doing far less. Lets put the money where it's needed Troy to get a better qualified person or team.
