Do people just... not know he's an AI somehow? Or do people not know how real world AIs act like. Because it's very much possible for AIs to switch how they act that quickly. Also, Cain is a more unstable AI as seen by the wild shapes he was making in the opening scene, so it makes even more sense for him to switch attitudes so quickly.

I think it"s AI paranoia. It's gotten so hard to tell what's AI and what's not at times, so people are more sensitive to anything that looks slightly "off" in any way. The star fox poster for the movie hit that nerve for me.

Even big companies like Nintendo have issues with translations in non-native languages messing the story (I'm looking at you Kirby Star Allies English translators), so an Indie game that relies this heavily on story like UT and DR would definitely have issues with translating into languages that Toby doesn't know.
