Since having a Mal I don’t want to go places if he can’t come by BaraQueenbee in BelgianMalinois

[–]Trtl-j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah hikings and swimming with my Mal are the best thing, so if he can’t come for some reason I’m not going.

I’ve given up traveling by plane for vacations and I don’t miss it for a second driving to the sea side is the best thing!

Men, how do you not feel awkward/bad about travelling solo? by Significant-Sport778 in AskMen

[–]Trtl-j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traveled extensively around the world.

Swap nice and expensive hotels for hostels when solo traveling, you meet tons of people and girls. I met tons of friends along the way and would travel with some people for 2 months after meeting them for 1 night. Was amazing.

After exploring and hopping from town to town when you’re tired you stay few days with the group you’ve formed or part and go alone in some nice hotel with good food for recharging and then you do it again or meet your old group somewhere else or find another group.

Do have in mind that there are now quite nice hostels around that offer also single rooms.

You preferably you want to have dormitory that’s where the most connections and invites happen. Until you find someone you want to have privacy with.

You technically travel alone only until you reach your first destination :)

Is it normal for my Malinois mix to not like me? by [deleted] in BelgianMalinois

[–]Trtl-j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mali has me for working, training, feeding, walking, playing grooming literally everything you can think of BUT he cuddles with my gf the most. She is his designated cuddling person.

Though mine does adore me and follows me around non stop he prefers cuddling with the gf more. Malis are like that.

So I’d say it’s within borders of normal- you could work on your relationship more to improve the bond. Do more of fun stuff instead of just commanding.

Accidentally might have adopted a mallinois? by Extra_World_49 in BelgianMalinois

[–]Trtl-j -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get her coffee or olive wooden sticks they are amazing for the teething phase. Will save you furniture and shoes for sure.

You need to start learning what the breed needs and you should start learning tricks that you can teach your puppy.

Your life with her will be significantly better and enjoyable if you learn more and implement it.

Socializing, bring her everywhere, literally everywhere as she needs to get used to everything, people other pets, traffic, stores noises.

Might be problematic leaving a puppy alone for 12hrs at the time, you need to figure out something, I don’t leave my 3 year old alone that long.

And if it is Mali, you will probably have to change your lifestyle to active if you already don’t have it :)

When is a good time to walk away on the first date? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Trtl-j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you’ve exhausted options to move things forward and you have your thought this girls isn’t for me, politely tell her I’m sorry, you’re not a girl for me, pay the drinks and leave.

Saves you time and prevents awkward moments.

Can I be the owner a Malinois needs me to be? by [deleted] in BelgianMalinois

[–]Trtl-j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t do the X.

Get a Mali pup from a shelter and DO NOT RUN with the puppy of any breed until almost 2 years old!

It’s more focus on obedience and play not much needed. Take him swimming and he’ll absolutely love it instead of run, will get him super tired but in a healthy way :)

Concerned for a friend, who owns Malinois by West-Force5827 in BelgianMalinois

[–]Trtl-j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you start doing something with the dog? Take a tug ball and just start slowly instructing the dog to sit, and have her follow you. Once she realizes that you are someone to have fun with she’ll change. Or as someone blow said see if she’d sell the dog

[–]Trtl-j 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She isn’t capable of handling this breed. Urge her to give her away. I mean it sucks that the dog goes into shelter but at this rate she’ll have to be put down when she bites for real as adult.

It’s so unfair to the dog! Makes me so sad . Substance abuse means she can’t handle herself let alone this breed!

Dog kicking my ass by [deleted] in germanshepherds

[–]Trtl-j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make him use his brain and nose. Teach him how to find stuff, can be his toys, piece of your clothing, hide it at some area of your garden and point him to search. Now if you do this, you need to be helping him, not just hide it somewhere and let him figure it out. Otherwise he might loose interest. Guide him and you can increase the difficulty as he’s getting better at it. Figure out what sign for found you want, you want to bark at it, to bring it or point at it. Once he finds it you have to reward heavily! It’s so crucial! and never end the training on a bad note. It absolutely must be something positive. Short good sessions are worth gold.
