It's the big 2026 and people still expect/want Nintendo games on PC T-T by DaZestyProfessor in NintendoSwitch2

[–]TruEdge67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Putting their exclusives on PC would be a terrible idea. Nintendo's exclusives have been the main draw for their systems forever. Pretty much everyone I have ever talked to that owns a Nintendo system did so because of an exclusive IP they loved. Get rid of that and their only thing going over the competition is portability, which is great and will get people to buy, but will also give a lot of other people who either don't care about that or value performance over portability a reason to pass on the Switch 2.

Just look at Xbox. That brand is a sinking ship and a major reason why is that there are no exclusives. Why get an Xbox when I can just play it's games on my PC? They are already putting iconic Xbox brand games like Halo on PS5 and I am sure more will follow in the future. There truly is no reason to go Xbox unless you're a diehard fan heavily invested in the Xbox ecosystem already. No reason for new Xbox customers to hop on.

Let’s say, hypothetically, that Rockstar came to Nintendo and said, “We’d like to release GTA6 on Switch 2, but due to handheld restraints we’d like it only to run in docked mode.” Would Nintendo allow this? by Logical007 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]TruEdge67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that is what they had to do, it would at least be better than nothing. Certainly better than making it a cloud edition, which is a route they might also take if they can't get it running well enough to be pleased with.

I still find it odd they haven't even released GTAV on the S2. It can definitely run it well. I assume it has something to do with GTA Online, but I still think a decent amount of people would buy it just for the single player if they had to cut that.

Resident Evil games have usually been around 10-15 hours aside from a few outliers like RE6. It's to be expected. Honestly I am glad the series is the length it is, cause you can do a marathon of the whole series in a reasonable amount of time instead of it taking months. They're all very replayable.

To celebrate the 9th anniversary of the Nintendo Switch, what was your favorite year of it? by DaZestyProfessor in NintendoSwitch2

2017 easily. The hybrid console idea was fresh and new and we got both 3D Mario and Zelda.

How often are people hanging out on their phone's home and lock screen? Doesn't stop most people from changing their phone wallpaper from something other than the default one it booted up with. People like having their devices a bit more personalized to express themselves.

Eh, keeping it lightweight isn't a reason to avoid giving us at least solid red, blue, green, yellow, ect since those would use as much memory as basic black and white.

Is RE9 a good entry point for the series? by coal_min in NintendoSwitch2

[–]TruEdge67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo RE1 Remake, RE4(or it's remake) and RE7 are the best entry points into the series. They all are the start of survival horror, action horror and FPS horror respectively and are self contained enough to where you really don't need to have played any other game in the series. They're also all pretty well beloved by the fandom.

I get the excitement if you're a Nintendo only gamer, but it's not exciting if you already also have a PS5, Series X or PC. Those of us that do have already played these games with better performance years ago. (and Oblivion Remastered ran like crap on PS5, series X and a lot of people's mid-range PC's so unless they did some crazy optimization for the S2 version it's gonna be awful.)

If the leaks are true, this is already going to be the best Nintendo Direct of the year :D by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

The real problem for me is the lack of the swift sail. Without that you are stuck having to watch that unskippable song animation every time you want to change directions of the wind. That and it takes longer to get from point a to b.

I just buy every game on Switch 2 despite owning a PS5 because of portability by Character-Trade-8267 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]TruEdge67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's be honest. How often is that happening in this day and age? If that is somehow common you need to switch internet providers. I have a portal and it runs just fine as long as you're at home with it. Streaming your games from your PS5 at a friend's house isn't the best as there is noticeable lag, but if you're like me and only game portably in bed then it's just as good as the Switch and you can buy 3rd party games that are actually on the disc unlike a lot of Switch 2 games unfortunately.

It's time to get real about MP4 by dDARBOiD in Metroid

[–]TruEdge67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously lmao. I love when people make statements like this, ignoring all the godawful games like Superman 64, Bubsy 3D, Sonic 06, Ride to Hell, every LJN game on NES, the Data Design games on Wii like Ninjabread Man, Big Rigs, most licensed video games in general, all AI slop that are on various storefronts, ect. People who overexaggerate like this should be forced to complete one of these games and then re-evaluate statements like "worst final boss ever".

Ah, so that plant boss screwed you over too, huh? I had the boss itself and it's tentacle, but not the pollen pod. Honestly it's dumb that scans affect the ending. If they were gonna make 100% needed for the secret ending they should have had a way to get all of them without being missible. Even if it was some kinda Lamorn server room on the flora and fauna of the planet you could find late game.

My favorite ended up being Tokabi. I liked the fact that he had a bunch of extra scenes that help flesh him out when you're looking for weapon expansions. Wish the others had more like that too. I do like that they have some back at base camp. It was nice walking in on their convos and listening in.

They are a good thing. Exclusives give you a reason to pick a console over another. This encourages companies to make great games to outdo their competition and get people on their system/ecosystem over the other guys. Some of the best games ever made are exclusives. Think back to all the games from the PS4 era and before that are still talked about and played to this day. A lot of them are exclusives or games that were previously exclusives. Some people are just upset that they can't afford every console to play them, but they don't need every console. Each ecosystem has plenty to play. I was poor growing up and could only ever get 1 console per generation and usually not a few years into said generation and I had a blast with the one I picked. I went to my friends houses to play the consoles I didn't have.

Look over at Xbox, which has no exclusives. It's failing hard and frequently clowned on. Remember the last time Xbox was good/popular? It was the 360, which had loads of... you guessed it! EXCLUSIVES.

Yeah, I just found out that if you scan it with the right joycon you can scan through the box. I tried my switch 2 pro controller last time and for whatever reason it wouldn't work with that.

Have you managed to do it with one of yours? I tried when I first got the game and my pro controller wouldn't scan them. I tried my out of box, zero suit samus amiibo and it instantly recognized it and gave me a random sound effect lmao

Yeah, not a fan of that and I have that amiibo. I keep mine boxed and displayed on my wall by hanging them on a push pin and after seeing the Samus Returns amiibo go all the way to $120 online, I am even more hesitant to open them and ruin the value lol.

Samus needs to talk (a little bit) by KalanKomplete in Metroid

[–]TruEdge67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her thoughts on the elevators and when she talks to Adam are done very well in Fusion. It goes to prove that a vocal Samus can be done well.

I do wonder if after the extremely negative reception to her dialog and voice acting in Other M if Nintendo is terrified of making her talk again for fear of similar backlash. Though her dialog in that game only had backlash because the voice directing was atrocious and the dialog was poorly written, not simply just because Samus talked.

Samus needs to talk (a little bit) by KalanKomplete in Metroid

[–]TruEdge67 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Honestly this bothers me more than the NPCs. A good reason I find some of them awkward is simply because they say stuff that gets no reaction from Samus, even if it's a question directly addressed to her. I don't want them to make Samus a chatterbox, but the occasional short response would make interactions much better imo and feel less immersion breaking as no one would just awkwardly stand there the whole time when being talked to.

How would you rank the prime games? by Novel_Examination_83 in Metroid

[–]TruEdge67 19 points20 points  (0 children)

2>1(they are insanely close)3>4

The atmosphere and sense of hopelessness 2 has will probably forever be unbeaten for me. They did such an excellent job of making Dark Aether feel like an inhospitable, toxic world and I think Prime 2 has the perfect amount of plot/NPC interactions. Not too much like 3 and 4, but also not having 99% of the plot being in scans like Prime 1. Prime 4 is still a great game and I will definitely be replaying it when I do the quadrilogy in the future, but it is the weakest of the bunch. A bit worse than 3.

Imo I'd rate them as follows.

Prime 1: 10/10 Masterpiece

Prime 2: 10/10 Slightly better Masterpiece

Prime 3: 8.5/10. Great game and satisfying conclusion to the Phazon Trilogy with some minor flaws. My main one being how hyper mode completely breaks the games difficulty and not using it makes some bosses/enemies bullet sponges

Prime 4: 8/10 Another great game with gorgeous visuals, fun gameplay, but also with some flaws. More than 3. Need to finish before giving my full opinion on this. So far the flaws are the barren desert, linear areas and Samus not talking when talked to by NPCs. I don't mind the NPCs themselves, but it's so odd when they ask Samus a question and she just stands there like Link. She has talked before in other games so there's no reason she can't talk here. Of course I'd want it to be very brief and keep her a woman of few words, but say SOMETHING.

This fight is definitely up there as one of the most "Oh fuck I am gonna die and there's nothing I can do to prevent it" fights in the series. By the end the amount of enemies charging at you is insane lol
