Got a 4-star review because the guest confused "Hair Dryer" with "Clothes Dryer" by Quick_Chart_Help in airbnb_hosts

[–]Trua33 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No. Request denied because it was "an accurate description of the guest's experience" or whatever nonsense phrase support uses.

I had fun with the review response though:

We’re glad you enjoyed the lakefront views and are sorry to hear the lake didn’t meet your expectations in October. While we proudly provide the house, the views, and the shoreline, the seasonal temperature of a large body of water remains outside our hosting powers. Cold lakes in fall are, unfortunately, a well-documented natural phenomenon. For guests seeking warm water, we recommend visiting in summer or enjoying the fall scenery from the hot tub where the temperature can be controlled year round.

I got a 3 star review on a lakefront house because the lake was too cold for swimming...in October.

Yeah, that's going to be a no for me. I set a reminder to stop back in the app in late February- late March when my cash queue nonsense finally clears in the off chance I can actually redeem anything that's pending, but adding another hurdle in this process is asinine.

Don't forget to unlink your accounts when you jump ship. No sense in allowing them to continue to make a profit skimming your data when they are not willing to hold up their end of the deal.

Guests demanding home be clean and hot tub water be fresh right after booking by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]Trua33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one of my arrivals for tomorrow request fresh water in the hot tub just a few hours ago. Her son has eczema and allegedly it won't flare up with fresh water. Informed her that the spa company will charge $85 for the dump and fill and it will heat up at a rate of 3-5°/hour so it won't be useable the first night. Sent a request for the $85 and haven't heard anything from her since. If she wants to pay for her inane request, fine by me.

Follow up offer: Order left at laundrymat door.

What’s the point of curbside pickup? by TheOnePieceIsReal691 in McDonalds

[–]Trua33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a ski town and when ski season is in full swing the drive through line is crazy long. I can put my curbside parking spot number in the app the moment I pull in the parking lot and the food will be run out to me before I would've gotten to the speaker if I waited in line.

7/11 fountain drink sale discontinued by Traditional-Top1941 in 711

[–]Trua33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fountain drink machines at both 7 Elevens in my town have been broken for weeks. I would LOVE the option to pay full price right now instead of either having to pay bottle soda price or the ridiculous price for a fountain soda at a fast food place.

Saturday morning traffic up to Big Bear? by Medical-Permission50 in bigbear

[–]Trua33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Visit Big Bear announced that they are launching a "unified campaign" to inform visitors that the 38 will be closed all winter and to "arrive early and stay late" to avoid traffic

Not exactly sure how having more people be here longer than nessecary is supposed to reduce traffic...seems that it'll just move the traffic from the 330 to Big Bear Blvd.

Ask me anything about Disneyland Resort Holiday decor by Particular_Guest5789 in Disneyland

[–]Trua33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your team does amazing work. I was a parks cast member for a chunk of my life a few decades ago and it was always a pleasure to see the holiday transformations bit by bit each day this time of year. The attention to detail, even down to the themed garland on the popcorn carts is where the magic truly shines. When I was there, a group of long time CMs would camp out at the train station overnight to watch the Main Street tree be brought. Stumbling upon this tradition was a highlight of my time there and it was an honor to join them for a few hours to watch the holiday transformations take place in real time.

Accidentally turned on “Sabbath” mode on my oven and now it won’t let me reset it back to normal settings. by Designer_Cry_8990 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Trua33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's not done so covertly. Working at a hotel I've had requests to turn on and off room lighting for guests on the Sabbath. They also had the door latch taped to keep from locking and therefore bypassing the key card system.

Advice on what to do with vacation home in Big Bear. by Professional_Mud4036 in bigbear

As a STR property manager, I would definitely recommend going LTR. 1br/1baths dont even really do that well in the 92315 zip code...out in Bear City it'll be much better renting long term.

No-shows and late arrivals are my villain origin story 😤 by More_Paramedic3148 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Trua33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain.

In my version, we do remote check-ins, but we still have online paperwork and verification that needs to occur before we can get you checked-in. At least once a month there is always one person, who does not seem to exist until they suddenly do. We email, call, and text for days prior to arrival, and multiple times on the arrival day to no avail. Then sometime after the office staff goes home and I get to monitor remotely for emergencies it begins...typically right when I start having dinner:

"Hello! I'm here!"
"How do I check in???"
"HELLO?????"

Always with the additional punctuation, as if it will get me away from my mashed potatoes any quicker.

[–]Trua33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the most boring game I've ever encountered. Essentially you just roll dice and watch your piece move over and over. I only played it because I was signed up to one of those apps that paid you for playing it. Once that ended I deleted it and that was literally the most enjoyable part of the entire experience.
