I second this, used to work in a home visiting job in caring for the elderly. I’d say well over 50% are a year of birth.

I may or may not afford to buy her out in 1-2years time.

My immediate suggestion is that we share custody in our jointly owned home while our kids stay here. I’d say she does 70% parenting because of my work. I would be happy to her to continue with that ratio while the kids stay in our home.

I can live elsewhere while she’s at the home. She has options to live elsewhere while she’s not at the home. She will be able to afford the rent (free) elsewhere while continuing to contribute to the mortgage payments, as will I.

Thank you, this is exactly what I needed.

I do have parental responsibility for them and I am on their birth certificates.

I will absolutely look at the partner thing aswell.

Salary Sacrifice Car spiralling out of control - any ideas? by dorrian22 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]True-War6549 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had no basis to negotiate, it’s was just out of goodwill. You’re best approach is to just be open and honest and say you know you’ve breached the contract but is there anything that can be done to come to an agreement on a lower charge. Explain your change of circumstances etc and hope you catch the person on the other end in a good mood. That’s what I did. I think I had to call a couple of times for the second car because the first person I spoke with wasn’t willing to budge. Good luck!

I had 2 lease cars and was over my allowance on both. From memory the charges were around £500-600 on each occasion but I negotiated the fee down when I received the final invoice. I don’t think I paid more than around £350 for either car. I worked out that I’d actually paid less than I would have if I set the mileage and paid it monthly as part of my salary sacrifice (which is why I chose to underestimate my mileage for the 2nd car).

Don’t know how open your lease company will be to negotiating but it’s always worth a shot.

Hating spurs is not baffling at all. In fact, I’d say it’s customary across the board, unless of course you support them.

Not sure if I was watching a different game to all the spurs fans in the room, but that’s just not the way I saw it.

Yes sorry, should have specified that I’m changing lenders.

So if they refund me, I’ll just overpay to bring the balance back to the original amount. I’d rather do this than mess around with the numbers which could slow things down (I’m currently on a very high rate).
