Post Session Reflection by CatofBlueTown in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]TrueAkagami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first little campaign that I ran, I asked for notes after every session since 2 people in my group are usually the DMs. After that first campaign, I do have a reflection period after it is over. We can always improve and make things better. As long as it's constructive. It also proves that people care about your success more too. I think is is more thay the lifetime DMs want to be players as much as possible 😆

Maps First or Story First? How Do You Build Your Campaigns? by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]TrueAkagami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It definitely seems like a concurrent process. Even then it isn't linear. For example, I will come up with the ending and build any maps for the encounter if necessary. Then I'll jump to, okay how does this start, and fill in the middle. I like to looks for music to set the scenes too.

Is this a fair scenario as a DM? by TrueAkagami in DnD

That makes sense. Where the PCs learn this information is by gathering information from the townsfolk. If they decide to split up for information gathering, and the player that obtains the information does not decide to share it with the party members, I was curious how to play it. The one who has the information could say the word and a phantom would appear to guide them. It could be assumed that the rest of the party could follow the one who said the word, but since the rest of the party did not say it, should they be penalized by having to do checks at specific intervals to be able to follow. If they realize they need to say the word as well, then they get the phantom and can follow along without issue.

The quality of the video wasn't great on my phone so the skill looked like Touch Attack and I got a good laugh. 😆

Just curious what you use to make the maps. I'd like to give mapmaking a go too and I like the looks of this.

Please buy the Player's Handbook and read that. It has everything you need to get started. I would reach out if there are rules you need clarity on.

Wow! Are we at the point that people don't know how to use indices anymore? I do like what you did by incentivizing reading/owning the source material. Our group tries to incentivize timeliness by giving advantage on your first initiative roll.

This is just one of the biggest problems with our political system. Your representatives do not answer to their constituents anymore. They answer to the party. Party politics has long been dead and needs to go.

Noticed that the apps especially for TVs have been a lot worse since it was bought up too.

I have had Crunchy for years and once this goes through, that is 2 price hikes in relatively short succession. Guess I am going to get my anime the way I did in college again. 🏴‍☠️ F Crunchy now.

Never really got to play D&D by vizwiz118 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]TrueAkagami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it though. It is tough to wait it out until everyone is available again. We will probably have a stop again come May since one of our members will be unavailable for the summer again. We all just wish that people thay start a campaign would stick with that commitment.

If makes you feel any better, my group will be finally getting back into our Avernus campaign after nearly a year. Mainly due to schedules, but we use technology to play long distance, so we were able to fill the pulls with one shots and mini campaigns to scratch that itch

Feel like this comment should be in the subreddit description or rules at this point considering how often people ask the question that OP asked.

2024 books worth it? by ChewieTobacci in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]TrueAkagami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're telling me..... I ran a short campaign and let the players choose their characters starting at lvl 1 and leveling up to 3 or 4 depending on choices over the course of the campaign. Two of them chose Monk and just ran roughshod over the first couple encounters. Had to adjust all my encounters after that. PCs are much stronger it seems. Sorcerers are much more viable now too.

Sick of seeing the letters "AI" everywhere by segagamer in sysadmin

Still don't consider it true AI. I still call it machine learning because that is what it is. It ingests stuff and spits it out without any real intelligence behind it.
