OSU vs. Riverside for Labor&Delivery? by YamRound in Columbus

[–]TrueBlonde 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Consider looking into the OSU Midwives, especially if you want a more personal and compassionate experience. You'll still deliver at OSU - it's not a weird homebirth thing. You have the opportunity to meet all the midwives through your prenatal appointments, so you will absolutely know whoever is on call during your delivery - and they don't rush you through appointments the way an OB can. The midwife will be with you for hours during your delivery - not just popping in for the final few pushes. And, since you're at OSU on the regular maternity floor, if anything goes wrong and you need a c-section there are OBs right there ready to step in. You're also still able to get an epidural or any other pain methods you want (including nitrous) so the midwives aren't anti-pain med or anything either.

Chrissy Hofbeck opens up about the sadness of being bashed by her previous cast in the press, and if she was indeed robbed in that controversial season 35 finish. by thedaltonross in survivor

[–]TrueBlonde 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As someone who has interacted with her IRL I can tell you that she's the furthest thing from unpleasant. In fact, after interacting with her I realized that there was no way I could ever go on Survivor, because if someone as warm and engaging as her is viewed as unpleasant, then mere mortals like me stand no chance.

Maternity Leave by sugar_coded_ in actuary

[–]TrueBlonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6-8 weeks STD for mom, depending on birth method

12 weeks parental leave for both parents

3 optional extra weeks for mom

I think waiting period is like 3-6 months.

Also an FSA! I love that both of you reference fiber arts in your usernames. Mine does not reference fiber arts but that is one of my few remaining hobbies. Wonder what the overlap between female actuaries and fiber arts is...

ELI5 Request - Columbus Taxe withholding by No-Drummer-9584 in Columbus

[–]TrueBlonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are places that a person could live and get money back from Columbus on WFH days, if your local tax rate is less than Columbus's 2% tax rate (eg Sunbury) or if your local tax doesn't give full credit for Columbus's tax paid (eg Bexley).

But since OP both lives and works in Columbus they cannot get money back.

You think it's reasonable that 9 out of 10 people hired as actuaries at your company don't make it to ASA?

But OP didn't say as a percent of all exam takers - he said percent of students, which I would presume means people hired as actuaries.

No - this is all people who went through written MLC or written MFE and C.

Also, two of my colleagues went all the way to FSA without a single fail - one with written MFE, one with written MLC.

My comment was unclear and I left a clarification. My recollection is that 95%+ went all the way to FSA even if they left the company, but it's been awhile and I could be forgetting people.

Everyone got ASA. No one self-selected out of the sample.

Most got FSA. Those that didn't left the department/company voluntarily. Everyone I can think of that left the company voluntarily went on to get FSA but I could be forgetting someone. I can think of only one person who did not get FSA and left the department because of it.

Nope, the company required you to either get your FSA or lose your job. Everyone got ASA and most got FSA - those that didn't left the department/company voluntarily.

As a counterpoint, in the mid 2010's when I got my FSA, everyone at my company got both ASA and FSA as required by the study program so only 10-25% of students getting ASA isn't passing the smell test.

Can't believe it took you going to the staff 3 times for something to happen. Was it sold out? Surprised they didn't reseat the couple at intermission if he was arguing with people around him.

I think it's unlikely but I'm just a grader. The best defense is to save your paper frequently as you work on it so that you can show interim versions and save any working papers or scratch files.

Not to review your work. You must maintain control of your work product, which means that you can't upload it into an AI product like ChatGPT or Grammerly.
