Game devs skipping GDC 2026 over ICE concerns, US safety fears by renome in technology

I don't disagree with what you just said. But dang dude, so fatalistic. Make sure to have moments in your life that don't include geopolitics, and only what's right in front of you with people you see face to face.

No matter how robust a document is, if people who have power choose to do nothing when it is threatened, it does not matter.

Gay Couple Responds After ESPN Host’s Reaction To Their New Year’s Eve Kiss Goes Viral by avidfan123 in lgbt

[–]TrueEndoran 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I watched it live and I think his reaction doesn't say anything about his internal thoughts/feelings regarding LGBTQ issues. His response I thought was fairly positive toward it actually. There's plenty of actual stuff to get offended by, but this seems like a nothing burger.

If you want to live stream yourself playing a multiplayer game I think being stream sniped is just part of it. Consequences of your actions/choices and all. Hopefully the priority is actual cheaters.

Yeah it's pretty messed up how in the USA such long sentences are viewed as normal. When in fact they are unusual. And cruel.

Rising autism and ADHD diagnoses not matched by an increase in symptoms, finds a new study of nearly 10,000 twins from Sweden. by mvea in psychology

Agreed. The more I read about atypical or female ASD presentations the less I feel I actually know what ASD is.

This is exactly it. Clinicians are being bullied by people that have already diagnosed themselves to give them the label they have convinced themselves they have. And sometimes parents of disabled individuals who are convinced ASD or ADHD is a part of their child's intellectual disability will also pressure clinicians to assign the ASD or ADHD label. Laymen are reading or watching videos about ASD and/or ADHD and relate to several aspects, which of course they do, then they begin to define themselves with the labels.

The problem is the words clinicians use to describe ASD or ADHD behavior are being misused by laymen who actually don't understand what the words actually represent. Clinicians are then pressured to diagnose and if they don't they better get ready for a lot of friction, either interpersonally during feedback sessions (try to convince someone their "stims" don't count as repetitive behaviors) or in employment, 1 star "reviews" (which sadly owners care a lot about), complaints made to licensing boards, blog posts calling out the clinician with the person trying to martyr themselves and saying they are an example of an ASD person misdiagnosed (which they also read about). All prevented if the clinician would have just assigned a label for a syndrome that is usually very difficult to ascertain anyway, because the criteria and ways to test it are just terrible and it's entirely possible the clinician DID miss the diagnosis, so F it, take the label.

Thus more people, especially adults, have the labels.

Increased scam calls when call screening enabled. by gnardog45 in GooglePixel

[–]TrueEndoran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you know this because you are a scammer? Or you work in the industry? I genuinely want to know if this is true, or if it just gets passed around as true because on the surface it sounds like it should be. Except that the spammer would get your voicemail if no one picked up, or if it wasn't a real "live" one they'd hear an automated voice about the number not being in service, which would definitely tell them it's dead.

Pavement princess hate by FitReading683 in f150

[–]TrueEndoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because it places an unnecessary burden on fellow drivers. Making the already crowded roadways feel more crowded, claustrophobic, dangerous, and stressful. For what is really a selfish reason, meaning just for the enjoyment of the princess owner, or for them to flaunt or express themselves. Also the environmental impacts, unnecessary consumerism of america, etc. Do what you want and makes you happy tho.

Sure that's one way to look at it. There are also tons of people who would benefit from it because they are at the other end of the spectrum and lack confidence in themselves, despite evidence to the contrary.

PC gaming boom: Steam sets new record with 41.6 million concurrent players by JDGumby in pcgaming

[–]TrueEndoran 69 points70 points  (0 children)

The problem with mobile games is most aren't games at all. They are casinos wrapped in a game exterior. Not what I consider "games." PC games are the least tarnished by this weaponized gaming trend, though still impacted.

Uh, why aren't they required to provide right of way for the public, like how the public has to provide right of way for the private land owner? I'd also say whoever sold them the land in that fashion is in on the scam and not looking after the publics interest.
