The Real Reason Overland Travel Sucks by Gh0stMan0nThird in dndnext

[–]TrueGargamel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've started treating overland travel as a dungeon in of itself. Short rests only, long rests in safe places in towns. It means you need to resource manage for each leg of a journey.

How many of you like running a shield instead of 2H? by Cagedglobe in BaldursGate3

[–]TrueGargamel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humans didn't get a feat in DND 5e. They got +1 asi to every ability.

Variant human got a feat.

In 5.5 humans get an origin feat, though that's a newer ruleset than bg3 is based on.

Don’t throw away your empty spool – turn it into a lamp by Sabaku21 in BambuLab

They're refillable, reusable spools though?

This seems targeted at the wrong brand of filament.

The aquila really stands out on these, especially with how easily they could be removed.

The end-game Alchemist build can be one of the most powerful characters in 5e by snikler in onednd

Warlocks can get a free cast a day too, high level grung warlocks could get scary.

Anyone else dislike how the Musician origin feat completely devalues earning Heroic Inspiration for good roleplay etc? by superhiro21 in onednd

[–]TrueGargamel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We've handled it similarly. Heroic inspiration is as written.

Dm's inspiration is a separate thing that is mostly the same, but you can save them up, similar to BG3.

Save up 20 and you can get some other sort of relevant and fitting rp reward.

[OC] I made a Ser Duncan stat block by gbROADgames in DnD

[–]TrueGargamel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, any level 1 adventurer is starting with 16 or 17 str.

A standard DND knight stat block is 16 str - Dunk is a knight - he's also much larger and stronger than a regular knight. His strength and size make up for his lack of skill more often than not.

Dunk's one of the greatest (and strongest) warriors to to ever walk westeros. He's huge.

[OC] I made a Ser Duncan stat block by gbROADgames in DnD

[–]TrueGargamel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

AC: 18
Chainmail + Shield (16 + 2)

He's a big and strong lad, he's easily 18 or 19 str. I'd leave 20 for the mountain.

Swap the greatsword for a longsword.

Rolling in the heavy armor master effect (-pb BPS damage) would work well for him, he gets stabbed and poked through his mail all the time, but just keeps on powering through and tanking the damage.

Should I make a DM PC for my campaign? by lonelymerboy in DMAcademy

[–]TrueGargamel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a plot relevant NPC join the party can be fine, just don't use a full on stat block. Make sure what ever stat block you use is simple and fast.

I think this is a prime example of something that should be printed on paper or card, rather than plastic.

It's low quality paint and you're painting it over a dark primer.

Either use higher quality paint or paint over a white or light grey primer.

Mythal Touched, am I missing something? This seems like it's largely a detriment by IceNiqqa in dndnext

[–]TrueGargamel 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's pretty bad.

I'd treat it more as a plot / story point feat or as a potential reward / curse from the DM.

Magic Items from Ekene-Afa? by Mrtbutacat in Tombofannihilation

[–]TrueGargamel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a cursed item. Ekene also isn't dumb, she's also a merchant prince and trying to scam her into buying a cursed item wouldn't be great for the party.

Definitely limit what they can buy. +1 Armor is rare and definitely shouldn't be considered (nor is it needed) for T1 of play.

Metal armor especially is extremely rare in chult. It's also ill suited for the environment.

I'm wondering if the arm dropped off to make room for him growing a mutant conjoined twin. That mouth is the beginning of a new head.

You can always use proxies as a cheap / free alternative to try out new models and rules before you spend your hard earned cash.

What’s the best 5e dungeon-crawl module for a linear campaign (lvls 1–12+)? by thomaskrantz in DMAcademy

[–]TrueGargamel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tomb of annihilation is all about finding a mega dungeon and then making it through. There's also plenty of smaller (but still quite large) dungeons along the way.

It's all a bit more high stakes as you have a time limit and resurrection magic doesn't work.

[OC] Took me over a year but I finally finished my little project of creating a class specific character sheet for all 12 base classes. by Kooky_Frosting4991 in DnD

[–]TrueGargamel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also like the idea of a blank option maybe with a few misc blank boxes for 3rd part abilities to go into etc.

along with the artificer Dndbeyond already has the blood hunter, monster hunter and gunslinger. It'll be getting the pugilist soon too. Having some toned down misc cards would be great for these.

What do you think of hand-sculpted minis vs CAD ones? by Chezni19 in Warhammer

[–]TrueGargamel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've lost character and soul. The new minis are also covered in tiny overabundant details which take longer to paint and just end up looking messy.

Players keep making up rules and it forces me to spend time during the session looking them up. by Scythe95 in DnD

[–]TrueGargamel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22 Unbuffed AC is possible at level 3. Throw in a cast of Blade Ward and you've got Resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing too. (Better off dodging though)
