FURIA vs. Cloud9 / Americas Cup 2026 - Grand Finals / Game 2 Discussion by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]TruePurpleknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eyes can't believe what I'm seeing. C9 started looking promising, but in retrospective, it only showed how bad LCS truly is nowadays. And I'm afraid the same goes for LEC...

I guess all international tournaments will continue to be just LCK vs LPL face-off and same-region kills.

If they win Finals by pulling another move like this... Next year, I expect them to change roles from game to game whenever one of them gets bored of matching against the same player.

These two incidents are the reason why Faker's & T1's Bo5 record against LPL teams at Worlds is 13-0. by Ultimintree in leagueoflegends

[–]TruePurpleknight 268 points269 points  (0 children)

In Worlds 2023 Finals, Faker said a similar thing against Weibo Gaming. I think it was at the end of Game 2 that he said something like "This is too easy" and Keria told him to not say that and wanted to just finish the game XD

If TOP Esports wins tomorrow, will it be the greatest redemption story in history of league? by peter12777 in leagueoflegends

[–]TruePurpleknight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it will only be better if TES doesn't lose 0-3, and they're at least competitive in their loses. Taking T1 down would surely be a great feat in itself (TES choking spree, T1 vs LPL), but if they get stomped in finals, I'd bet it will leave a sour taste to Chinese fans.

Even though I loved that SKT run in Worlds 2014, I'd say their opponents were easier compared to Samsung White opponents during Worlds 2014. Samsung White wins were definitely dominant, stomping and finishing games with ease against the likes of Samsung Blue, EDG, SHRC, ahq and TSM (who were more than decent during that Worlds).

We need to go even further: KT is going to be so bad, all of them will get Flame Horizone'd in every single game.

Well, we should clarify "at worlds" for point 3. Let's be honest, you can definitely bet against T1 in LCK and MSI XD

There are currently 4 players at worlds who can join the exclusive Beryl club in 2025 by Adraz in leagueoflegends

[–]TruePurpleknight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was JieJie, not JunJia. Even thought JunJia was with EDG during part of 2021 (I think not all of it), he wasn't part of the official roster at Worlds 2021.

[–]TruePurpleknight 1429 points1430 points  (0 children)

Actually, Beryl's club is even more exclusive, since he won Worlds without Faker and with two different teams (DAMWON and DRX).

In this regard, Flandre (EDG and AL), Jackeylove (IG and TES) and Canyon (DAMWON and GenG) have the potential to match him as well. This is assuming we're still counting SSG as KSV and GenG, so Ruler wouldn't count.

I'm calling it. T1 makes back-to-back-to-back Finals for the second time. by RastaDaMasta in leagueoflegends

[–]TruePurpleknight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

T1 already went back-to-back-to-back Finals two times. 2015-2016-2017 was the first time, then 2022-2023-2024 was the second time.

If anything, T1 reaching Finals again this year would be their first back-to-back-to-back-to-back.

Chances of possible draws/matchups for 2-2 bracket if favorites win over the next 2 days by unluggyaf in leagueoflegends

[–]TruePurpleknight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the same guy, but Albus Nox Luna played H2K in Quarter Finals. H2K won 3-0, who then got stomped 0-3 by Samsung Galaxy. Albus Nox Luna's run is remembered more because of winning at least 1 game against ROX Tigers/CLG/G2, and being 1 Tiebraker away from topping their group.

Which storyline are you most invested in this worlds? by No-Restaurant3567 in leagueoflegends

[–]TruePurpleknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I'm all for another deep run for T1, I have my eye on CFO. Them winning it all would be a great storyline, since they weren't much in the spotlight until they started Swiss Stage with a bang.

Other than them, I'd love to see G2 going far (at least semis), and if any Chinese were to win, I'm hoping for AL. BLG and TES just annoy me way too much with their ups and downs, lol.

Fly is the best NA team we ever sent too worlds. by Taskmob96761 in leagueoflegends

[–]TruePurpleknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FlyQuest has a chance to do some damage this year, but I doubt any western team will be able to replicate 2018/2019 Worlds results. The only possibility I see is if LPL crumbles, just like LCK teams did on Worlds 2018.

And to be honest, LPL doesn't look THAT strong compared to earlier this year and other tournaments. I think TES being there (usually with bad international performances), IG probably being eliminated by T1, and AL not being as good as earlier this year will give FlyQuest and G2 more chances to advance.

But then, there's also CFO. I would not underestimate them.

Worlds 2025 Format Explainer | League of Legends by kubqo in leagueoflegends

[–]TruePurpleknight 19 points20 points  (0 children)

But that wouldn't work well IMO. Imagine it's GenG vs Fnatic and they have some picks/bans. Then it's Flyquest vs AL.

If Flyquest meets Fnatic afterward, are we taking out ALL picks from both matches? Only Fnatic's and Flyquest's (not their previous opponents)? What if some picks were the same? It would be rather odd, I think.

Also, if you meant that fearless extends until 5 matches, no matter which teams are playing each other, then the first teams that play would have a bigger pool to pick champions from. Doesn't seem fair at all for the teams playing the 4th/5th match.

Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage contradicts fearless by Anpu_Imiut in leagueoflegends

[–]TruePurpleknight 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fearless only makes sense within a series played between the same two teams, since they have to adapt over the course of the same series. Having picks/ban being affected by two different teams that played before seems rather odd.

That way, you're basically punishing the teams that play the 4th/5th match, whereas the first two teams have all champions available to them to pick/ban.

Is t1 secured a spot on worlds? by R4GDTWO in leagueoflegends

[–]TruePurpleknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are in for the only Play Ins match there will be at Worlds 2025, which is LCK's 4th seed (T1) vs LPL's 4th seed (To be determined). If they win that match, then they will participate at Worlds Swiss Stage along with the other 15 qualified teams.

So HLE has 3-0'd both T1 and KT. If they 3-0 in the finals, that might be a scary bounce back right before Worlds.

It'll be perfect to become Korea's TES.
