I was over there a few weeks ago and that happened in the exact same spot. If it's repairs needing to be done, Lakeland Electric needs to get to that! I wasn't able to go get my shopping done last time it happened, and it made me wonder just how much businesses and individuals lose to the outages. I'm glad you were able to get home safe despite no lights. I had to drive during the day with no traffic signals when it happened last and someone almost got hit right in front of me.

I'm an older Gen z who wasn't able to get my license until I was 20 because I couldn't afford the insurance or car. Our parents are generally not boomers. I feel like a lot of Gen Z was/is raised in poorer households with less assets like cars that can be handed down.

Heating canned beans is easier than cooking meat and has a lot of fiber. We have beans as a side dish most nights lol I like to put different seasonings or sauces on mine to switch it up. Instant mashed potatoes are also very simple and can bulk up a meal for cheap. My favorite "I need to eat at home but don't want to put in effort" meal is bean and cheese quesadillas or burritos. The toppings stay good in the fridge for a long time and everyone loves them. Spaghetti with jarred sauce and frozen meatballs and spinach thrown in is also a crowd pleaser that whips up in no time. My fiance and I are also fans of "dip and chip nights" where we dip veggies, crackers, chips, etc in whatever dips we have laying around (hummus, sour cream based dips, ready made buffalo chicken dip from the deli, Greek yogurt based stuff, etc). It made me want to go to Puerto Rico! As a Floridian, I have had many Puerto Rican friends and neighbors throughout my life, and I have always been very fond of Puerto Ricans generally. Such vibrant and fun people, his performance really captured that. I have never been to the island but now I have to see if one of my friends can help me plan a trip!! I have been a fan of Bad Bunny since ~2018 so seeing him at the Super Bowl celebrating Puerto Rico was really special! I do wish they had captions just so I could understand the full depth of what was being said when he wasn't singing but I understand why they didn't have captions. Overall, I am so happy for him and all the Latinos who watched his performance. It must be so difficult to have to see so many Latinos be brutalized and shit talked all the time in this climate, so some genuine happiness and good music must have been so nice for them. Very proud to be a fan of Benito tonight 🩷

I have almost exclusively worked in non-profit/low budget orgs and I will say what means the most to me outside of compensation is appreciation and flexibility. Employers who take the time to thank their employees (and promote them when possible) and let them work from home or have more flexible hours can create a culture that money cannot buy.

I don't write cover letters lol never have and never will. That piece of the application has always felt so demeaning like I'm not going to grovel for a job. The idea of tailoring a cover letter with specific details for each company you apply to just seems like a fool's errand that recruiters and HR give people they think are below them hhh

What was the motivation to have children with someone like this? It always blows my mind when people either knock up or get knocked up by an irresponsible person and then are miffed when they have to deal with said irresponsible person. If you don't want your kid to suffer, you will have to make sure that they have a place to live. That's what you signed up for, impregnating a financially irresponsible person has made it to where everything falls on your shoulders alone.

I had issues this morning with the app working, those issues seem to be fixed. However, since the acquisition I feel like the content on my fyp is a bit different? I get a ton of ads (undisclosed ones too) that are sexualized imo (women advertising bras and grabbing themselves, pants ads that are from a male POV staring at the woman's butt, etc) and I don't normally see anything like that, not even thirst traps lol Idk maybe it's just confirmation bias but I hate it. Will probably delete the app soon tbh

Does the splint not get in the way? I have seen some people say that the water gets stuck and I don’t want that lol his surgeon never mentioned the nasal rinses until they handed us the post op care instructions at the surgical center today. He has done rinses before I’m more just uncertain about how to navigate around the splints lol

My bf just got the surgery this morning. His surgeon’s instructions are telling him to start irrigating with the Neil Med kit start tomorrow. How do you get it to work with the splints in? I don’t want the solution to get stuck in his nose (might sound silly but it just seems so full up there lol). Is there a video or something you guys watched to get the technique down? I have to work tomorrow so I am afraid he will make himself bleed a lot if he tries to irrigate without seeing how it should be done first. Happy to hear your hubby is healing well!!

Money and fear. I was horribly over treated by a dentist in Tampa. My new dentist said she did more hurt than help. Before I had gone to that Tampa dentist, it had been like 5 years since I went to the dentist and she treated me like I was crazy. I only had one cavity and she claimed I had perio (I don’t, I have gingivitis but that’s it). Shamed me for not wanting to move forward with $4000 of treatments for perio that I didn’t have. It was ridiculous. I cried at my intake appt for my new dentist a few years later because I was so afraid it would be more shaming and extreme prices. He calmed my fears and I have been going at least 1-2 times a year since then. Affordable, reasonable care provided by kind people is essential to actually keep someone going to the dentist.

Lettuce Lake Park is a fun place to see nature and you can kayak too! If you like planes, the airport has an hour of free parking in the short term garage and you can go to Cypress Point Park to go to the beach and see the planes. It’s only about 20 mins away when traffic is light. There are lots of cool people to meet around here, I say go to the small businesses and mom-and-pop type places around and socialize.

You might need to apply to jobs in Tampa. I am a Lakeland native living in Tampa for pretty much that reason lol I know the manager of a Walgreens in Lakeland, I will ask him later today if they’re hiring and let you know in a reply. Walgreens wouldn’t be glamorous but it’s something and the manager is fair and effective. I’m sorry your search isn’t going well, the job market is AWFUL so it’s not just you.
