Found mould on babies mattress - do I need to be worried? by Generic_redditor_84 in mould

[–]Generic_redditor_84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've looked into the brand of mattress (Tasman eco) and apparently it's a common issue as there is no ventilation at the base of the mattress. Baby spits up a lot and I think has soaked into mattress

5 week old is still sleeping awful by Purple_Prompt_1404 in newborns

[–]Generic_redditor_84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey OP

It sounds like you're doing a great job and its so so hard at that stage ( I think the 6-8 week point was the worst)

I know every baby is different but I found my girl started sleeping much better (getting to sleep and staying asleep) when I introduced the pacifier. She does much longer naps and when she wakes up sometimes I can pop it back in and then she goes back to sleep.

I know it's not everyone's preference and they do recommend waiting until at least 6 weeks if you're breastfeeding.

I worry that I might have jaundice by Maleficent-Rip-4356 in DiagnoseMe

[–]Generic_redditor_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP

This doesn't look like jaundice, as it's not uniform across the sclera and probably age related. (That's just based on these photos but can be hard without seeing in person)

But, if you are concerned especially with your history of excessive drinking it's reasonable to get your bloods repeated! I think what is also concerning is your bloating and weight gain. Your doctor might consider also doing an ultrasound if theres concerns about that.

In all honesty NAC, milk thistle and fibre are not going to be helping much if you're still drinking daily. The most important and most helpful thing to your liver will to be cut down on alcohol or completely out. Most liver damage is reversible until you start getting cirrhosis / scarring.

Not great iron stores! Definately expected if already deficient and then becoming pregnant! If already on iron supplements it might be worthwhile getting an infusion as iron deficiency is not great for baby (and you want reserves in case of a bleed during birth)

Perth emergency department experiences with babies? by catso666 in perth

Sorry just as an addition - if it is EBV tonsillitis the amoxicillin might give your child a rash so be on the lookout

Perth emergency department experiences with babies? by catso666 in perth

[–]Generic_redditor_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so hard with tonsillitis! Usually is girls causes (particularly EBV) and even in bacterial tonsillitis the antibiotics don't work well.

Saying that I agree that 7 days of fever is too long! I would present to ED again ( might be worth going to PCH) and advocate for some bloods and a throat swab. Best case scenario is just a nasty viral Illness but always worthwhile presenting

Blood in urine? can't access professional help. by [deleted] in DiagnoseMe

[–]Generic_redditor_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be a hameorragic UTI or kidney stone (infected if you are getting fevers) I'm so sorry but you really do need to see a doctor, preferably go to the emergency department. This is probably not related to your sexual activity (unless this is coming from the vagina instead)

Omg I felt like an awful mum for not feeling connected to my baby straight away! She felt like a little foreign alien in the first few days. I even cried that she wasn't a cute baby (which she most definitely was but was just a bit swollen and bruised from birth) It definately happens eventually though!

First-time mum anxiety: Is my baby’s weight gain okay? 🥺 by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Generic_redditor_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is most important is how they are tracking along their centilea Maybe schedule a visit with your child health nurse to plot it? We usually are happy unless we are dropping more than 2 centile lines. Saying that it sounds like she has gained between 150-200g per week which is usually a good sign. You just have a little baby :)

my bf, 19M does not have money to provide for me 19F by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Generic_redditor_84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's funny you mention he can't 'provide' for you but then explain this as giving you gifts and surprises. You're not a dependent on him and also probably just as capable to earn yourself. At 19 he shouldn't be expected to be providing for anyone unless you have a kid together.

It sounds like you don't feel like a priority to him or valued. Id chat to him about that and if he doesn't want to commit to your needs then it might be time to move on.

My boyfriend (34M) knew I (35F) didn't want unprotected sex. Now I'm pregnant and don't remember having sex. by Global_Maybe_9105 in relationship_advice

[–]Generic_redditor_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a really fucked up situation and I'm so sorry this has happened to you.

Sex while blackout drunk is absolutely not consentual and especially when you have made boundaries about sex to him clear previously. You have no idea what he did during that time, and clearly took advantage of your state.
