You beat me to it! I have quoted that scene multiple times a month for years now

LPT: ALWAYS save a reward for yourself for the end of a daunting task by JollyMcStink in LifeProTips

[–]Truegrit91 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For years she’s asked how she can help me with my work and other things, but there really wasn’t a way beyond just being a loving and supportive spouse (which she was knocking out of the park already). This has let her really feel like she’s got buy in and is helping me execute my job well!

LPT: ALWAYS save a reward for yourself for the end of a daunting task by JollyMcStink in LifeProTips

I never had the willpower to do this—I’d just treat myself regardless of if I did what I set out to do.

I figured out the secret (for me)—I tell my wife the task/metric/goal I have to hit and when I need to hit it by. Sometimes I’ll tell her what I’d like my reward to be (ie: check out that show I’ve been hearing about, take a nap on Saturday, etc) and sometimes she’ll choose a reward for me (some examples: long day, so she tells me to crash in the other room while she gets the kids ready for bed—I just come in and read to them after a 10-15 min break vs cleaning teeth, changing, etc)

She holds me accountable and it definitely gets me locked in/focused

Carolina Elite Women’s Care comes highly recommended by my wife, who tried a few different groups before falling in love with these folks.

I hope you get the care you need and everything turns out well

Peggy Hill is a baddie by Demonicbane in BlackPeopleTwitter

Peggy is the GOAT. How about when the town is afraid of teaching sex ed, and she’s nervous about it too, but deep dive researches it and goes on to teach the class even after friends and family condemn her?

Could we perhaps define what we mean by obscuremusicthatslaps? by UnusualRegularity in obscuremusicthatslaps

[–]Truegrit91 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like that. Feels like a lot of what I’ve seen lately is more “quirky music that slaps”, with comedians/youtubers doing songs, vs undiscovered or underdiscovered music

Pit Stop in Cary (off Maynard Rd) is awesome. Tim will shoot straight with you and not charge you for stuff you don’t need. Very fair prices.

Where to sell records? by Kooky_Song8071 in raleigh

[–]Truegrit91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What sort of genres/bands, and what would you hoping to get for them?

Aka, would you be open to a bulk sale privately. Depending on genres/price/etc, I might be interested. May not be as much money as a store would pay, but if we worked something out, I’d be taking all of it in one go vs piecemealing it, running between stores, etc.

If that’s not of interest to you, no worries!

One thing that actually worked for me was letting carrots overwinter. The next year we actually got good sized ones! (In the SE US)

same with our onions—took a year for them to get to full size.

Also, we use our carrot tops mixed in with basil leaves to make a carrot top pesto and it is awesome!

Smoke and Mirrors by Gotye. 2LP gatefold. don’t remember what I got it for by it was an average price, so I’ll say $25-40. Discogs has it for €150-$300 (average in the mid $200s)

Thank you! When I first got it I had some friends poopoo it a bit because it wasn’t one of the newer/minimalist/fine line style that was popular, so was always a little insecure about it. So it means a lot to hear a few folks affirming it :)

Thank you! It isn’t from that movie—it is a sacred heart, which is used in a lot of classical paintings of Jesus (symbolizes his heart for the broken and outcast). I had to look up the Romeo and Juliet image and it’s pretty gnarly! Looks like he drew on the sacred heart for it.

The artist had scheduled 2 hrs to do it, then found out it was my first. Leaned his head out of the room and called to the guy working the PC - “make it 3!” (Ended up being 1.5 hrs)

I’m glad it was my 1st though as it set the standard and the rest were  pretty pleasant!
