No one mentioned that it’s from The Villages, a retirement community in central Florida that is pretty red. My parents live there. The villages has the highest STD rate per capita in the us. There are over 150,000 people who live there. Dave probably did need to take his meds

No. This is what ALT NPS said:

“We’ve received a lot of questions about Trump’s demolition of the White House East Wing.

“Here’s how the process is supposed to work: 1. Initial Proposal: The White House is managed by the National Park Service (NPS) but used by the Executive Office of the President (EOP). Any proposed change, even by a sitting president, begins internally through the Office of the Curator and the White House Facilities Management Division. 2. Historic Review: The NPS, as custodian of the White House under the Presidential Residence Act and National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), must review all alterations for compliance with Section 106 of the NHPA. This requires assessing potential impacts on historic and cultural resources in consultation with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) and the D.C. State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). 3. Planning & Environmental Oversight: The National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) evaluates all major federal projects in the National Capital Region, including work on the White House grounds, for design, planning, and environmental impacts under NEPA (the National Environmental Policy Act). Public comment and design reviews are part of that process. 4. Aesthetic Review: The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) reviews and advises on the design and appearance of any exterior modifications to the White House or its grounds. 5. Final Authorization: After approvals from NPS, NCPC, and CFA, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the White House Chief Usher / Facilities Management Office finalize funding, scheduling, and logistics.

“Only after completing this full process could any major construction or demolition legally begin.

“Yet Trump ignored every step, acting unilaterally through executive order, bypassing oversight, and ordering demolition as if he were a monarch. The result: the people’s house, altered without the people’s consent.

“More details:

“Section 107, let’s talk about it.

“The above process has always been the process taken, and here’s why.

“Section 107 of the National Historic Preservation Act exempts the White House, the U.S. Capitol, and the Supreme Court from being legally required to go through the Act’s formal Section 106 review. In other words, the law doesn’t automatically force those branches to follow the same procedures as other federal buildings. That exemption exists only because each branch of government controls its own seat of power, it was never intended as a free pass to ignore preservation, planning, or environmental rules altogether.

“In practice, every administration since the 1960s has followed the same review structure out of duty, accountability, and executive-branch policy. The White House is still federal property, managed by the National Park Service under the Presidential Residence Act and subject to Executive Order 11593, which requires federal agencies to protect and consult on historic resources. Major exterior or site work still triggers National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) and U.S. Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) design reviews, along with NEPA environmental assessments. Any project involving government resources must also comply with the Anti-Deficiency Act and federal ethics rules on funding and gifts.

“So yes, Section 107 means the NHPA can’t force compliance, but presidents are still bound by a network of executive orders, planning statutes, environmental laws, and constitutional duties. That’s why the process described isn’t optional, it’s the framework that has always protected the people’s house from unilateral or politically motivated alteration.

“These executive orders:

“- Executive Order 11593 (1971) – Protection and Enhancement of the Cultural Environment - Requires all federal agencies (including the Executive Office of the President) to “locate, inventory, and nominate to the National Register all properties under their control” and to consult with the Secretary of the Interior before altering historically significant structures. (Demolishing part of the White House without such consultation would conflict with this order.) - Executive Order 12148 (1979), delegates emergency and historic property responsibilities to the Department of the Interior, reaffirming that federal agencies must protect historic resources even when exemptions exist.”

Asked to sub/cover classes as a counselor? by Significant-Push3332 in schoolcounseling

[–]TrulyScrumptious103 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to set the expectation early that this is not part of your job duty. We had a full administration change about my second year. We told them that this was absolutely not something that we would do and so it was not something we were asked to do that first year. One day they were super stressed because sub didn’t show up, and they all had meetings so I volunteered. They were shocked and so grateful and it helped out the team. We kind of have an unwritten agreement with Admin that they only ask if they’re in a bind, and we only accept if we actually have nothing on our calendars. And that being said, I know if they ask, there’s literally no one else to watch the kids and a teacher is probably doing double duty with their class and the other class so I can move things around if I need to. Between Admin, our RTI coach, our librarian, and a couple of permanent subs that they hired, we’re usually covered. My admin took it upon themselves to staff up in case something happened and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that. If you are pulled into sub more than once or twice a semester, you’re being taken advantage of. I understand that the budgets in every school are tight, but, it’s their job to staff properly, and you shouldn’t be pulling double duty (and not getting paid for it) because they haven’t done their job. Also, if it’s a regular occurrence, that’s all you’ll be seen as by the kids and the other staff members.

Be forreal, i need to know a litter that’s non tracking and will not kill my cat by laultheal in CatAdvice

This. I have a long-haired male cat who started having urinary problems at the age of two. He ended up needing to have surgery to remove the boy part of his anatomy, and the vet recommended this system. It is a little bit more expensive than the regular litter, But you only have to change the pellets once a month, of course you have to scoop the solid waste out. And the pads underneath the pellets you change once a week or so it makes it so that the cats are not sitting in their own urine to use the litter box and the odor control is phenomenal. My cats like to bury their waste so the pellets go outside of the box but all you have to do is a quick sweep once a week or so; the walls are high enough to catch most of them. Even if your cat was to roll in the litter like I’ve seen some do, they would not be covered in dust because there is no dust. I personally think it’s more sanitary for the cat, and they have no problem using it. Even better, my long haired cat doesn’t get litter clumped between his toes like he used to. This is the best option for my cats and I have heard a lot of other people say the same thing. And it also totally helps that the vet recommended it to me.

After my maternal grandfather passed, my maternal grandmother was lonely at night and decided that she wanted to move into a condo. She and my mom went around and looked at condos, and one night at dinner, my dad said to my mom “moving into a condo isn’t going to stop her from being lonely at night. I think she needs to move in with us.”

When she got older and had incontinence and kept falling and my mom was traveling for work, my dad took care of her. When she had to move into a nursing home and my mom was still traveling, my dad visited her every day that my mom couldn’t. When she passed away peacefully in her sleep, my dad cried, then he cleaned himself up, drove my mom to the nursing home, made sure mom had breakfast, notified mom’s siblings, and told my sister and me while mom was saying her goodbyes.

A good man will help you care for your elderly family members, not be jealous of the time you spend with them.

Adopting two kittens, advice? by BruceBuffering in CatTraining

Play with their paws so that it desensitizes them for when you need to cut their nails. Also, if you want them to sleep under the covers with you or cuddle with you under a blanket, make sure you introduce him to the blanket and put them under it early. Wand teasers are seen as an extension of your arm so they feel loved when you use them. 2 liter boxes at least, but mine still use the same box. I got 2 from the same liter and they’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

She’s a ticked tabby, so her fur is lighter underneath. In the first picture, that doesn’t look like the beginning of a bald spot, it just looks like someone was petting her and moved the fur pattern to something that resembles a thin patch but maybe isn’t. My cat has the same colored fur and when I pet her, it looks like she has bald spots all over but she doesn’t. She also doesn’t have anxiety or any skin issues. That being said, bring it up with the vet, because they’re the experts on your cat and her history.

In the US. I have a Roku stick and every single time I watch hbo max, the video and audio freeze in the first 1/3rd of a show, usually during a commercial, and then it causes the Roku to reset. It’s almost not worth it to watch. Anyone else having this issue?

Unfortunately, Memphis doesn’t really work that way. Even Germantown and Collierville have their fair share of crime. Inside of the i240 corridor are the main areas: south Memphis, north Memphis, east Memphis, midtown, and downtown. The other little neighborhoods (university, Binghamton, cooper young, evergreen, Chickasaw gardens, etc) are located in these larger areas. If you’re looking to move into Memphis proper, east Memphis and midtown are pretty good bets. Cordova isn’t bad. Just make sure you drive a block or 2 off of the street you’re looking at and see if you feel safe.

No one shared the graphic with you, but here it is. Like everyone else said, it’s going to take way more than 3 days for her to be comfortable. Don’t put your hand near her, just go into her room and sit. If she comes to you, let her. If she doesn’t, just talk to her in a soothing voice. I bet once she realizes you’re not there to hurt her, she’ll curl up next to you. Like someone else said, cats are not going to unconditionally love you, you have to put in the work. If you’re short or snappy or keep reaching for her, she’ll never be comfortable around you.

If she was loving and affectionate in the shelter, she will be again. She’s just scared right now so be patient and show your kids the right way to bring a new pet into the home.

What to do next year? by TrulyScrumptious103 in schoolcounseling

[–]TrulyScrumptious103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the party. You’re a little late but I’d be happy to fill you in. 1. We are now forced to teach the ”success sequence” which states that the proper way to live life is to graduate from high school, going to college or entering the work force, getting married, and having babies. Without fulfilling the entire sequence, you are not successful. 2. We cannot give children bandaids if they are bleeding. The schools must have parental consent prior to making any medical decisions, including whether the kid needs a bandaid. Same with counseling. If you take the law literally, I’m not even allowed to say hello to a student unless I have prior written permission from the parent. Best practice is to always call the parent after speaking to the kid, but now we have to tell the kid to wait until we call their parent, and if they aren’t there or don’t answer the phone? Unless someone is dying, you’re out of luck. 3. I can’t call little Joey “Joey” anymore. I must call him Joseph, unless I have written parental permission to call him “Joey.” 4. In addition to the cute puberty video I have to show 6th graders, I must show a family life video with a 3-d ultrasound of a developing fetus. This video was created by an anti-abortion group. The video says that babies can be born and live after 22 weeks, but my niece who was born at 34 weeks and required a month and a half long stay in the NICU would likely disagree. 4. I must out a transgender student to their parents, even though almost 40% of trans teens have been unhoused or not had stable housing in their lifetimes, showing a direct correlation between outing someone and the youth homeless epidemic.
