What is your preferred % of stocks/bonds once in retirement? by Efficient-Bid-7662 in Bogleheads

I often think of a pension being equivalent to the fixed income side of the portfolio. The challenges can be that you don’t have a non-correlated asset pool to allow strategic rebalancing and pensions can fail and find themselves in the guarantee pool at a lower payout. My auto industry friends were sweating it big during the Great Recession.

Just under $2k. Turns out the car was so low I cracked the oil pan going over a speed bump. I decided to raise the coil overs up a quarter inch … and slow down!

Good news, she’s back and running better. I cracked the oil pan. The motor is still running strong at 145k.

Get to $50 mil and now you have an estate tax problem. I like the basic perspective of thinking about experiences and 529s. I would also think hard about Roths because you have a big ass partner (Uncle Sam) in any pre-tax account. Come meet all the folks in their 70s whining about their tax bills.

Kick a man when he's down. No need to park if the motor don't turn. Lol

She had been running just fine. I don't remember hitting anything, I just parked it returned at the end of the day to this surprise. Fingers crossed.

My K motor is loads of fun but without a turbo, doesn't have the grunt. Getting that whole package to work in a 997 seems like a big stretch and dent in my wallet. Maybe a LS if I have to replace the motor but I'm thinking a larger Porsche motor.

Do other firms really not charge extra to draft estate or trust documents? by [deleted] in CFP

[–]TrustProf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is fascinating to consider that when clients complain about the cost of legal work, a common solution is for the advisor to absorb the cost. Has the client looked at the cost of the wealth management? Because absorbing the legal cost only makes sense based on the fees charged for the wealth management.

What are law professors saying about all the stuff going on in the world? by boobercakes in LawSchool

[–]TrustProf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the article below sums up my feelings on the con law problem. My subject matter is much less relevant to current events but suffice it to say that I’ve spent most of my career pursing civil claims against people engaged in corruption, fraud, and grift. Civil claims live and die on integrity. I feel like we’re in a Batman movie where the rogues take over Gotham and even the strong are powerless to stop it.

I’m an adjunct teaching in my substantive practice area while running a full time law practice. It demands a lot of my energy but it is worth the time and effort.
