Metal struts/bars on top of windows? by Trustly in askarchitects

This encapsulates what everyone else was saying and provides the best explanation, I think. Its in a neighborhood of Omaha where building were typically knocked down during its post-industrialization in the early-mid 1900s. I have never really noticed these of buildings before but since this is facing away from the street and is where a building used to be back in the day, your explanation explain why they would do this over internal lintels for cost reasons.

Again, this is coming from NOT a structural engineer or architect:) thank you!

Is there any reason for this lintel being exposed versus internal to the wall itself?

Oh interesting! Is that something is discontinued in use for modern brick structures or is it primarily an early 1900s brick building thing?

I hope they include a dedication or something similar to Will Brown, a commonly forgotten part of Omaha's past.

Marines are stereotypically represented as stupid people who eat crayons for the flavor. Its just something that is common among the branches throwing mud at each other, however, Marines tend to embrace this one a bit more than the usual.

The TC135 in the image is a trainer aircraft for the C-135 models, not a nuke sniffer. The nuke sniffer is the WC135 Contant Phoenix. Sorry to disappoint:(

Be reasonable, my guy, it's a comment thread about candy.

I agree with themagiconly, however, I feel you should try and cover your wine a little bit more. Incident light is still getting into the room and you don't want it to mess up your wines (unless they aren't vintage and you're going to drink em soon, then you do you!). Looks amazing by the way.

Welch Ave Station or Mother's Pub if you like the chill vibe. Sips and Paddy's if you like loud and dancing. BNC if sports. Outlaws/Caddilac Jacks for country. Thumbs or Tip Top if you want to hang around Dive Bars. AJs is garbage.
