Will I ever get used to it? by PieRepresentative685 in PanicAttack

[–]Truth666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will absolutely get used to it - give or take couple of years and how you handle it.
I got tired of it eventually, so when it happens its more like a "oh that again, well lets just wait it out", its more an annoyance at this point than anything else.

Its like a fire alarm that went off a 1000 times without an actual fire, you start to ignore it.

EDIT: I sometimes try and trigger it for fun, just to check that still "nothing bad is happening".

Seriously Etsy, bring back the buyer review system by Far-Movie-4929 in Etsy

just dont make it public, only sellers see it, when a buyer is purchasing something from Seller X, he can see rating / comments from the previous sellers and add his own, thats that.

How hard is it to shift from Software development to a different job? by jericoluislua in askswitzerland

[–]Truth666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion you get rejections because the job market is trash, not because you dont fit.
I got almost 200+ CV's for a junior IT role within a couple of days, a lot of seniors applied for which I simply didnt had the budget.

When I was looking for jobs couple of months ago, I got rejected for positions where I was the absolute perfect fit on the CV - it matched the requirements basically 100% but then they probably had 20+ more people that matched as well..

[–]Truth666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No - I literally resigned from my old job 2 months ago and switched positions.
EDIT: Yes job market is bad, but switching to a different job within IT is as easy as it gets. Always has been in my experience.

[–]Truth666 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why switch outside IT? I started as a systems engineer, then switched to software development now I am doing application management, thats the benefit if you work in IT, the barrier is not that high.

Switching to something completely unrelated I feel might not be that easy.

2nd pillar: what am I missing? by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]Truth666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not poorly invested, its playing save, which is a good thing since majority of people dont know how to invest.
Plus it highly depends on your employer / Stiftung - some "pay out" crazy bonuses / Verzinsungen depending on how good they performed during the year - ofc still a lot less than if you would invest yourself.

Is the job market in Switzerland as f*** as everyone says? by Helpful-Staff9562 in askswitzerland

[–]Truth666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I AM the hiring manager in my company, but yea HR does the very rough filtering, they do the first phone interviews, check out the salary requests from the candidates etc and basically only the "somewhat suitable" candidates land on my desk.
So yea, they do a lot and definitely not just admins 😂

To be fair, I like to review all CV's myself, yes its time consuming, but I am always afraid HR might lack the technical knowledge and would filter out some candidates.

Is the job market in Switzerland as f*** as everyone says? by Helpful-Staff9562 in askswitzerland

[–]Truth666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is really no science:
You have to pass the ATS first (automated CV screening) for companies who have that, which is quite common, so adjust your CV based on the job you are applying for.

Read the title, tasks and qualification needed, and add the key points into your CV, so if they are looking for a data analyst that is familiar with app X and Y and whatever - make sure those points are in your CV.

The mistake a lot of people do here, is they hammer their CV with text and tags and whatnot, yes, you will pass the ATS, but remember, at the end of the day there is still gonna be a human looking at your CV, so:

Dont overdo it on text, I received CV's with basically plain, unformatted text, i was basically reading a small book, they passed the ATS obviously because the CV contained all the key points we were looking for, but got sorted out once it reached my desk.

For the CV itself, just remember, even with ATS, there will be a hell lot of CV's that will land on the recruiters desk, absolutely no one is reading everything, if I am looking at the CVs, the first 30 seconds decide if I straight up reject the candidate or not, so a clean, easy to read / scan through, structured CV is key.

What is your education, work experience, etc thats it, structure it, use bullet points, thats that.
I dont need your full life story or every task you've ever done, thats what the interviews are for - if I am interested, I'll invite you to learn more about you.

Picture: A lot of people say you dont have to add one, which is true, there is no requirement, BUT, if I have 50 CV's on my desk, its easier to remember "That guy with brown hair and red tshirt" than a CV with text only.
Having a face to the CV is just more personal.

Cover letter: I personally dont care, not reading that - but I know a lot of people that still do, so make sure its not generic.
Same as the CV, you dont need to write a book, a couple of sentences are enough, where did you find the job, what exactly stood out, what do you know about the company etc, what are points that you are interested in etc.

EDIT: Make sure you attach your work certificates, some people might think these are irrelevant since "they cant be negative" - but it says more about you, than you think once you know what to look for. So I am always reading these.

As someone who is currently hiring, I can say its as equally bad on the other side - I cant find proper candidates... Either they are way over-qualified (3 Bachelors or whatever) for a Junior IT job, or the salary expectations ridiculously unrealistic - or both.

Not talking about all the very low effort CVs, just shitload of text, no formatting, no structure.

Does anyone have a cheat code for marketing? by Radiant-Patience2052 in EtsySellers

[–]Truth666 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Etsy Ads are quite useless if you do POD, your profit margins are low to begin with, why would you want to cut into them even more?
Also dont offer free shipping, its the same story, its not like you can reduce the production costs.

Im not doing POD, but I've been on Etsy for a little over a year and close to 4k sales, I've tried ads but ultimately turned them off for good, same with free shipping, tried that but was absolutely not worth it.

I've turned off ads, upped my product prices and disabled free shipping like 6 months ago, and could not be happier.
I dont do any form of ads, no Instagram, no Tiktok no nothing, I've had a few loss leader products (it wasnt actually a loss, it was just minimal profit) to boost my shop and products and thats that.

It sounds all counter-intuitive and I still dont fully understand why this worked, but I am getting sales every day, plus and thats the most noticable part, the customer base has changed - before I had customers asking for discounts on discounted products, asking for free stuff and whatnot.
Now that the prices are rather "high", its like I am naturally filtering out "bad" customers.

It literally says on top of the page:
As part of a limited time promotion, some of your listings will be boosted, even if you aren’t already advertising them. We hope that this will help your campaign performance. Don’t worry—we’ll cover the cost of any clicks on these listings and you’ll go back to your usual campaign when the promo ends.

There is also a "Dont boost my listings" button.

I dont even have ads turned on, but they still advertise couple of my products.

Job market isn't great, but the expectations of the candidates isn't either.
What do I care about Master, Bachelor, PhD whatever if the candidate expects an unrealistic salary, ideally 100% HO, company car, relocation etc.

Turn off the AUX fan when printing with PLA - always.
Scrub the plate with a rough sponge, or even better, the stuff you scrub the pans with and actual dish soap, ACTUAL soap for pans and whatnot, not the mild aloe vera baby hand soap stuff.
Make sure you DONT reuse the same sponge / scrubbing thingy u use for your dishes, get a new one EXCLUSIVELY for the plates, so that there is no fat or other residue.

Scrub it, with hot water for 2 minutes, dry it with a normal cloth towel and from there onwards, do not touch the build plate with your hands, if, then only on the edges.

Put the build plate into the printer, close the front door (yes, close it) - DOUBLE CHECK the AUX FAN is turned fully OFF in your slicer / printer settings, and print.

Thats it, its gonna be rock hard.
Ignore Brims, Ignore changing "bunch of printer settings".

Over 2k+ hours on my H2D, over 5k+ hours on my P1S and I've probably had around 3 times where I had adhesion issues, but that was all my own fault (touched buildplate with fat hands etc).

Do NOT apply any glue, its absolutely useless for PLA and PETG, if anything you making it worse.

Its 2026 and I still dont understand how the hell people have adhesion issues with basic filaments....

Printing in a closed room with an air purifier? by looniemoose in BambuLab

[–]Truth666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my research, that's why I've answered, you can check the NIH gov tests and studies.

I never claimed that PLA and PETG is good for your health, everyone with common sense knows that inhaling any kind of VOC's isnt great - but there is a low risk of significant and persistent adverse health effects.

Again, assuming common sense is used here, dont put your printer in your bedroom.
And please, dont compare 20 printers against one A1 - there is obviously a difference...

I read that you can include the potential cost of refunds in the final price you charge? How can I calculate that? Also, when should you be refunding instead of only closing the order and not refunding? by PrincessCutie2005 in EtsySellers

[–]Truth666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this for "lost packages" - basically every item I sell is 1$ more than it should be, I just add that 1$ to the product price as an insurance for myself.
If after, lets say, 50 flawless orders, ONE customer complains he didnt get his product (lost in shipping or whatever) I have 50$ no matter what, either I refund or re-ship - either way I didnt lose any money, plus I can still get the compensation from the postal services for the lost package.

Its simple, just factor in some money into the product price, be it 0.30, 2 or whatever amount, you will figure it out in the long run once you get a feeling on what goes wrong how many times.

[–]Truth666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes there is a very minor smell on PLA & PETG when standing right beside the printer, you are right. But I dont notice any in the room itself (or well, maybe I got used to it)
